Yo Troopers, what about this then nearly completed the Cavalry so decided to go for the Vehicles I was personally involved with during my service in the QOH. Had to push the boat out to get this Antar its mint in Box with all the original packing, taken a leaf out of Dickbuttons book go for the best. Spent many hours in the Antar's on the Autobann moving the Centurions to the training area. Also bought the first vehicle I drove on the day I past my test, had to drive 20 Troops to Gatwick Airport from Hampshire it was a real bottle job for me, if only the Troops in the back knew I had just passed my test lol.
Its the Bedford TK 3 tonner also comes mint in original box. Now giving all you Tank guys fair warning to move your Junk Tigers & T34s off the Battlefield, arriving any day now is a Diecast 1.35th Centurion and sorry guys if you come in its sights your WASTED, and try & hit it when its moving at 25 MPH and takeing you out like a Turkey shoot. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. lol. QOH didn't take any prisoners. Just need a Austin 1 Tonner, a Ferret Scout car, a Champ (jeep) and a softcover Landrover, then all is complete in the vehicles range. (Happy days)
Bernard.

Good looking tank, not sure about the eyeballs on the front of the turret - those look good on Chinese junks but not tanks:D:D:D

Wow classic Dinky Toys straight from the 1950's one of my favorites!

I used to pick them up in the 1970's for $10 boxed! Today they start at

$100 and can go up to $3500 for boxed mint examples! Great items when

you can find them!

Heres a few from my collection:

Dinky related:

I have the best collection of Skybirds figures probably in the world.

Sky birds were made in the 1930's to accompany the Dinky military vehicles.

I'll have to post some photos when I pull them out of storage.

Can't wait to see them, when you get the chance.

Yo Scott, very similar, but more military style that model looks like they hard top type used by the Farmers.

Yo Bob, when an enemy Tank commander looked through his Tank sights and saw the eyeballs looking at him, his last comment was "we are ----ed" lol.

To Trooper, really impressed with the Dinky Collection, you should do a separate album with them and Numbers etc, would be very helpful for research. Love the Sentence "Here are a few of my Dinky Collection". One I want is on your top self 5th in from the right the Austin I Tonne # 641. Here is the story behind it and its all true Troopers. Not blowing one's own Trumpet
But Think I must hold the World record for the fastest driving licence obtained. Trained as a Gunner/radio operator on Centurions. I was posted back from Germany to Tidworth HQ, so reports there Monday morning 9am, hands over my Documents, and they ask me where is my Driving licence, reply I don't Drive !WHAT! you have been sent here as the Brigade Major's driver, he hasn't got a driver, enter the Landrover his personal vehicle. So they send me to the vehicle park and tell this Corporal Butch to teach me to drive ASAP so enter the Austin 1 Tonne I learn't to drive in. Starts learning at 12pm that day Monday. In the meantime a big flap breaks out in Kuwait (forget what about) but the whole of Tidworth Garrison 3 Regiments had to mobilise to get ready to fly out to Kuwait on Saturday. Nothing to do with me I am going to be the Brigade Major's driver lol. Friday gets an Order from Sergeant Dodd in charge of the Staff Drivers. "YOU ARE TAKING YOUR TEST IN THE MORNING" Saturday 9am. I protested. I have only started learning to drive this week. (TOUGH) They need extra drivers to take all the Troops to the Airport.
So takes my test Saturday 9am and passes "DONT KNOW HOW" lol. At 4pm had to get a Bedford TK 3 Tonne from the vehicle park pick up 20 Troops and their Kuwait gear, and drive from Tidworth to Gatwick Airport in thick fog DOH. So Monday 12pm started to learn how to drive, Saturday 9am passes my test, 5 days. Must be a World Record what you reckon Troopers, just they way things happen in this life, and guys its all true.
Bernard.

Cardigan:

Great story! Brings all the great dinky vehicles to life!

They were always my favorites growing up! We really had nothing to compair

with them. Sitting in large counter displays, or later on large cabinets with 3

drawers for the inventory, and large sliding glass doors for the display pieces.

A real treat on a Saturday trip downtown was a visit to the hobby shop to

pick up a catalog to study every spare moment. Making checks by all the

ones you wanted to get someday!

I got .50 allowance a week and the cheapest Dinky was .85 I only collected

the military series as the Commercial Trucks at $1.85 and up were way out

of reach!

It was a red letter day when after a month or so I could go downtown and

pick up a new catalog, and choose a new Dinky for my collection!

I always brought them home to show my Dad..........a man closer to Joe

Stalin then Ward Cleaver (US version of a tipical Dad on TV at the time)

Somehow, I thought the new Dinky might soften him up.....maybe a smile?

I was always greeted by the familiar "What did you waste your money on this

time? I don't know why I bother to give you an allowance! Now put that

foolishness away and go cut the grass & wash the car"

Yup, just like on TV!

Perhaps thats why I treasure these items from a time that was suposed to

be pleasant.:D

Thats a great idea to photograph them and place them in an album. In the

meantime if I can provide anyone with information, or a picture I would be

happy to do so.

Here are a couple of shots of others on display around the house.

Been collecting them since the early 1970's.:D I remember when there were

no good books on what was made.

I have really enjoyed finding them, and now I have over 200 pieces plus a

nice sized mini collection that my daughter enjoys!

Just before we visit I send her photos from the den, and she chooses what

I should bring up! Its lots of fun to hear which items she remembers from her

years at home going to shows, and helping me set up displays in the den.

Our children are lifes most wonderful gift!:)
