This morning my VFW Post said farewell to one of our former comrades and Post Commanders. Jay did everything he could to make sure that Post 9-11 vets were treated with respect and dignity upon returning from duty (an experience many Nam vets didnt receive from the VFW upon return). I volunteered to stand at his casket during his viewing this morning and to say it was an honor for me is a gross understatement. The Nam vets I served with always ALWAYS parted all their wisdom and experience on me so that we could come back- it just made me such a superior soldier. As the ranking post officer at the viewing, I was asked to stand last and render him his final salute. To be able to stand at Jay's casket and render him his final salute was a massive honor.

This is the most sacred duty we can do as veterans. thumbnail_z jay fdfdsfdsfsdfsdfsdfdsfds.jpg

Rest in Peace Comrade.

May Jay rest in peace. The world is a poorer place for the passing of each of those who served our country.
