Hi Guys,
Since 2014 is now here and under way, just wondering what you all think is coming. I'm sure we will see at least one totally new line aside from the already announced Great War Line ( WWI ) so what do you think ??
Wild West ? Indian Wars ? War of 1812 ? The Gulf War ? Spanish - American ? War of the Roses? Hundred Years War ? Siege of Vienna ??? Battle of Grunwald ( Tannenberg )? Franco Prussian ? Boer Wars ? The Zulu War ? The list could go on and on.
I have plenty on my plate but could be tempted with either Ottoman - Hapsburg wars or Franco Prussian war lines, at least for a few pieces:wink2:. regards Gebhard

I would go for Franco Prussian but it may be too close to WW I to warrant making.

Gebs,

I hope that AFVs will released this year to compliment the DAK, Stalingrad and Battle of Normandy ranges. I have room on my shelf for a few First Legion AFVs and support vehicles! We should elect Sammy as our spokesperson and have him put some pressure on Matt to release some armor soon! :wink2:

Best,

Alex :smile2:

Well Gebs, I have stated I have only been a one range guy but if First Legion does some type of Western Indians, Calvary type you can count me in, I can only imagine my old fort Apache being relived through the life of some great First Legion sets!!!

Also wouldn't mind seeing some American-German vehicles for Normandy, and of course anything related to the winter WWII battles...Sammy

I just hope they DON'T release anything I want to collect.^&grin^&grin{eek3}^&confuse

I would love to see some Old Guard Grenadiers in combat. We have marching ones, but I would love to have a few to throw against the allied center at Waterloo!

Hi Brad,
I would be very interested in seeing a Franco - Prussian War line but I think its wishful thinking on my part. Interesting you think that it may be too close to WWI, If you think about it the time distance between those two wars is actually twice as long as the one between WWI & WWII :wink2: regards Gebhard

Hi Alex,
I'd vote for him as well , and look forward to seeing what First Legion can achieve when it comes to the BIG GUNS myself . But I'm really wondering what you guys think will be the NEW LINES for 2014 .. regards Gebhard

Gebs,

You are right and I also agree we may not see it but I think a lot of collectors would be interested; I know I would. I don't think anyone has done this conflict and I wonder if anyone has done Bismarck.

This was obviously a conflict that so obviously affected German French relations in the latter part of the 19th Century that it has to be done.

It is one of the key wars of the mid to late 19th Century that I don't understand why it hasn't been covered. There is certainly no shortage of Crimea or American Civil War figures.

C'mon Matt :wink2:

Couldn't agree more; why the Franco Prussian War has not been tackled by any major matte manufacturer so far is a complete mystery to me, you've got French, Prussian and Bavarian armies involved, cavalry, artillery, zouaves, some epic battles, it needs to be addressed and whoever does first will be glad they did, I get requests ALL the time from customers asking why this subject isn't covered.

I would agree. I have been hunting for a Bismarck as well as a Napoleon III and Wilhelm I. I may be wrong bu the entire spate of conflicts in Europe between the Crimean War and Balkan Wars have fallen by the wayside.
What about the conflicts for Italian unification?Where is Garibaldi? Mazzini? Cavour? Victor Emmanuel II? Francis Joseph?

Well guys, looks like Matt heard us, it just took a few years . So much for wishful thinking, see good things do come to those who wait . I'm sunk :wink2:

The Franco - Prussian (German) war period is one I am interested in re the conflict, perhaps less so from a toy soldier collection, though have a number of Kaiserreich figuges. Would definitely endorse the arrival of First Legions figures and look forward to seeing the Prussian soldiers that emerge, perhaps even their allies. Could be seriously tempted by models of mounted figures from Von Bredow's Death Ride at the Battle of Mars la Tour.

P.S. Message for MikeNick. If still looking for a Bismarck figure -- Hecker Goros make a foot figure of Bismarck wearing the Überrock uniform and carrying the helmet of the 1st Heavy Reserve Rider Regiment. Though it is a casting so requires painting up. It is available from Berliiner Zinnfiguren. I know you posted sometime back but it may be of help to you or others.
