Gary,
As you probably know, the Mets closer has a history of not always showing up in some tight games although he hadn't blown one since June or July and Spezio has some incredible numbers in the post season so what can you say about Friday. Saturday, the Mets needed Trachsel to bring his A game and he pitched probably the worst he ever did for the Mets.
Let's face it, we're without two of our best pitchers and maybe you have to say that they did the best they could under the circumstances. Tonight is obviously important and you have two untested pitchers going. Unfortunately, the Mets are the ones in the hole here. Next year, they're really going to need to beef up the starters especially with no Pedro until July and who know what you'll get.
As I've often said, being a Mets fan is about suffering. That's why you have to appreciate when they're in the playoffs because you just don't know when it's going to happen again.
All that being said, if they can win tonight, I think they'll win tomorrow and head back for NY to the friendly confines.
