One of my favorite movies. The story centers around Odessa, a secret organization pushing the Nazi agenda in post WW II West Germany. A reporter (Jon Voight) stumbles onto a diary of what happened at the Riga concentration camp in 1944 and tries to find the camp commandant, who is now an industrialist and part of Odessa. His company is making parts for Egyptian rockets that could be used to exterminate Israel and the Mossad use Voight to infiltrate Odessa.

Story is based on true events. There were secret organizations and German scientists were working for Nasser and the Egyptians.

The movie blends WW II, the present, a feel for postwar Germany and action to make a very good movie.

Maximillian Schell is excellent as the camp commandant. Directed by Ronald Neame.

I quite like it as well. And who can forget the opening credits with Perry Como in full voice?^&grin -- Al

One of my favorites, too. And it's a film that doesn't lose anything from the novel, in translating it to film. It has some great veteran character actors in it, too.

Prost!
