Anyone else enjoy this series?. I have the first four series on dvd and just love it. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy the Ricky Gervais original, but the US remake has more laughs, fleshes out the background characters more, this it can do as it is spread over seven series as opposed to just two of the original.

Steve Carrell's performance is at the same time funny, cringe worthy, embarrassing and inept, really very good. He has in my opinion made the series his own and its a shame he is leaving after series 7. Rainn Wilson is also superb as his manic, slightly creepy second in command. I see Ricky Gervais is to appear in a cameo role in this last series with Steve Carrrell, should be quite a meeting of two pretty obnoxious characters!

I love it Rob, although I must admit the last season seemed to be a bit strained after the wedding. I guess I have something else we could watch together when you come by.:p;):D

Will look forward to that mate:D:cool:. Its very rare that a remake is better than the original, but its the case with this series. Havn't seen True Grit yet so I can't comment on that!.

Yes, one of the funniest shows in recent memory and one of the few network shows that I can still watch. It hasn't been dumbed down for the masses. It's starting to run out of steam a bit though. And Carrell is leaving after this season. So I don't see it lasting much longer, but a great run. And Dwight Schrute is an American icon:

My favorite show. What can you say about such a grouping of loonies? Michael and Dwight are priceless. It is just freakin' hysterical. I thought I would die laughing when the hotel threw out Kevin's shoes and he wore boxes as a substitute. Just great stuff.:D:D:D -- Al

Cheers to that mate; he really cracks me up in nearly every episode.

Great episode in which he suffers a concussion whilst trying to get to Michael who has burnt his foot in a Foreman Grill:D

A classic. Fries his foot in a Foreman Grill and then bandages his foot with bubble wrap. I am still laughing. Dwight, the beet farmer and minister who conceals weapons everywhere. My hero. -- Al

Another fave is the ' Dinner party' in which Michael and Jan's relationship dissolves in front of their mortified guests :D. Great performance from all concerned...'thats what she said'!!;)

That is a another goody. The tragic demise of Michael's flat screen tv and Dwight's date are hysterical (a word that is essential to descibe this tv series). -- Al

Its so well done isn't it, it not only makes you laugh but also cringe, when you see the tiny bed Jan makes him sleep in, and as you say, his tiny plasma tv that he can push back into the wall-about an inch!:D

Absolutely, I love it! I have all of the previous seasons on DVD, and every so often, I cycle through watching them, over a couple of weeks.

My fear is that the show will run on longer than it should, just because it's successful and making money. There are signs that it already has. Now that Carell has announced an earlier exit than originally planned (originally he was staying till the end of this season), it's an opportunity to wrap up the story. There have been rumors, of course, that the show will continue, with a story line about Dunder-Mifflin recruiting Michael's replacement (I've heard Harvey Keitel's name mentioned), but that just tells me that the producer/writer/directors are going to milk it for everything they can. I fear that it will turn into another "Seinfeld" or "Cheers".

Having said that, the first three seasons are an absolute riot. I find I laugh at just about every bit in every episode. When we get to the fourth, that doesn't happen as often. And once Jim and Pam get married, a major plot conflict has been resolved, and we're dangerously close to "Cheers" territory.

Prost!

Is Steve Carell leaving mid season then Brad???

I heard last week that he is leaving around May, I think it was, with several episodes remaining in the season. His original arrangement was to stay till the end of the season.

I think it's a good opportunity to stick to the storyline of the original British version. Michael's dream is to be a stand-up comic, where David wanted to be a rock star, if I remember correctly, and he left, too. I think they really ought just to run to the original conclusion, that the company goes out of business, and everyone goes his way.

Yes that would be good, David was fired in the end if memory serves, and even fell out with the Brit version of his friend Todd Packer.

Television consumes a tremendous amount of material and it's almost impossible to keep a show at a high level for more than three seasons. I saw the most recent episode last night and it had several good laughs, but the show has waned since the "marriage" episode which struck me as entering jump the shark territory. I can't see it going much beyond one or two more seasons. Still better than 99% of the stuff I see on the networks and even the UFO and ghost junk that populates cable these days. Second only to Kenny Powers and "Eastbound and Down."

I love this show. My favorite episode by far this season was Halloween. Tim Olyphant's character was a great brief addition, and his interaction with Pam and Jim was HI-larious!

(her reaction when he said she was a "bit dorky" was great acting)

This is interesting:

With Steve Carell stepping out of NBC’s The Office, producers have enlisted Will Ferrell to help boost the show’s numbers during the season’s home stretch.

Ferrell will reunite with his Anchorman co-star in a four-episode arc later this season. He’ll play a branch manager who arrives from the home office and proves to be just as inept as Michael Scott.

Well that might be very good, I can see Ferrell as another inept boss very easily.
