The older Britains Delhi Durbar (1 Viewer)

Wow thats anamzing pick up! Like Pat mentioned its a bit hard to find these beauties! I have to tell you that its my favorite elephant of the 4 done in gloss. I would really love to see them make some more glossy sets to go with the exsisting lines especially since they have barely scratched the surface on the units involved in this amazing parade.

Hi Dave,

I fully agree!!!!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :smile2:

Dave and Pat,
I am very much with you guys, hoping for additional glossy sets matching the old ones, but am very afraid that it will be only wishful thinking on our side, since they are doing their matte series now.
But the last thing to die is the hope, right :wink2: :smile2:
While I am at it, I was able to sneak one more set in my collection this month. It is 00083 The Imperial Cadet Corps, and here are some pics of it.

Hi Konrad,

Once again, I say, Congratulations on a wonderful addition to your Britains glossy Durbar collection! In my opinion, the Imperial Cadet Corps set is one of the most beautiful sets within the Durbar line. It is truly remarkable.

I am so glad you are enjoying the Durbar figures. Each set is beautiful if displayed as a single set or combined with other Durbar sets. The display options are endless.

Keep us informed as you add to this portion of your collection. I am enjoying each and every addition you add to it.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :smile2:

Nice addition to your collection Konrad. That was a set that sold out quickly and I missed getting it when all the dealers were sold out. Nice work. John

Thanks, John :smile2:
We will have to find one for you when roaming the trader's rooms in Chicago this year :wink2:

A little update here on the older Britains Durbar series.
I was able to add a few more sets, the Elephant of the Nizam of Hyderabad, the Maharajah of Patiala with Lancers, an Officer for the Viceroy's Bodyguard and the Silver Trident Banner of Jaipur.
Am really looking to get the "Hunting Cheetahs of the Nizam of Hyderabad" to go along with that lonely Elephant :wink2:
One day I will get it, :smile2:

Hi Konrad: Very nice acquisitions and very well displayed.

Thank you, Tommy and Scott,
These little cabinets make it easy to display just parts of entire series.
Konrad

I was able to add some figures to my Durbar collection. Got set no. 00133 Ludhiana Sikhs (8pcs) by Britains and a group of Civilian spectators, which are by Marlborough.
These civilians along with the Sikhs as route liners add very much to a display.
A few sample shots are attached.

Hi Konrad,

That was a great pick up! The Civilians are a real great way to add some depth to your display. I also like that set of Sikhs since its such a large number of figures for one set. I have been toying around with the idea of getting a few more sets to use are route liners for the Glossy display. I just got a set from Marlborough The Hunting Cheetahs set so I now have six cats in my Durbar Parade.

Thanks for sharing your acquisitions!

Dave

Hi Konrad,

You have acquired a most excellent series of figures! The Ludhiana Sikhs are a terrific set that display quite well. The Marlborough spectators are wonderful figures that add depth to any Durbar display. And,...your photography presents these sets at their best! You are well on your way to a superior collection of Durbar figures. My compliments for outstanding additions to your collection!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :smile2:

Konrad: Congratulations on these finds. With the Durbar to display it properly, you can't have too many civilians. You might look out for the fish seller, peacock seller and curio stall.

You're right, Tommy, can't have too many civilians.
Now, since I got started with some Marlborough figures, I will be on the lookout for more of them :wink2:
They do offer a nice variety of civilian sets.
