I have seen first 5 episodes of Orville. So far I have really enjoyed all of them. This show seems to be a mix of comedy\drama\action series.
The show is obvious Parody of Start Trek. Episode 5 was actually directed by Jonathan Frakes from STNG.

Anyway, be aware there are SPOLIERS below. So if you want to watch this Episode first - DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER.

In this Episode guest star Charlize Theron is a ship Capt name Pria, that gets rescued by the Orville.
Later in the episode she helps them navigate thru a Dark Matter storm and saves everyone's life.

Then she reveals she is actually from 400 years in the future.
She explains to them she travelled into the past via a Cosmic Wormhole that was discovered in her future time.
She came back because she knew the Orville would be destroyed by the Black Matter storm.
Now that she saved the ship - she wanted to take the ship and entire crew thru the Time Wormhole into the future.
Then she would see the "antique ship" to the highest bidder.
The crew would be free to live out their lives in the future.

(She never explained how she navigates the time Wormhole to get her to a specific location or point in time. So will let this slid).

Anyway Capt Mercer tells here that they are not going into the future with her. In fact they are going to destroy the Wormhole.
(I always like sci-fi time shift stories because it get's strange when trying to figure out the time arcs. Here is where it gets strange.).

After the Orville destroys the Time Wormhole, Pria character vanishes.
This makes sense.
Since the Wormhole was destroyed in "present" time, it never existed for her to use, therefore she never could have come through it.
But if that is the case, then why didn't the Orville disappear?
If she never came back in time, then she never saved the Orville. So wouldn't the Orville have been destroyed?
Some people claim since the Orville went off course to rescue Pria then she was the cause of them eventually going thru the Dark Matter storm.
Therefore if she did not come back, they would not have went off course.
But she told them, she only came back because she knew the ship was destroyed.
This means the destruction occurred without her being a part of it, and should still result even if she does not come back.
So how is it the ship still exists after the cause of their rescue is removed from the equation?
What am I missing?

Never try to figure out time travel stories it will drive you nuts.

I watch the first episode of the new Star Trek.I thought it was very good but I'm not paying another $10 not when I already pay a lot for cable.

I have not seen that yet. But since I already have max cable I would not pay extra either.

Anyway - here is a follow up to my first question.

As I said once they destroyed the wormhole, Pria disappears. Since the wormhole no longer exists in the future, it was not available for her to use.
But the Orville would have never known of the location of the wormhole, without her showing it to them.
So without the wormhole she cannot come back thru it and show them the location of where it exists, so how could they have found it to destroy it in the first place?

so marco55 is right, this will drive you nuts.

It goes back to the old "if you go back and kill your grandfather you could never be born but then how could you go back and kill him":confused::confused:^&confuse{eek3}

Hahah!!! Very true

I’m enjoying the show, it’s an odd mix of parody and a legit sci-fi show. Not sure what they’re looking to be, but I like it

Just watched an episode of the current season and there were NO jokes?? I'm pretty sure I've seen this advertised as a comedy (I checked - it is??). It's my first look at the series and 90 minutes I think I could have used better. I usually like Seth McFarlane's stuff but it was Star Trek lite, with less action and more woke"?

You talk about woke.Check out the new Star Trek:Strange New Worlds.I thought I would like this but I'm not impressed.I also quit watching Discovery.
