Well, the DVD set certainly seemed to show the resilience of the Marines as it withstood the inferno that engulfed my house. My wife and I got the DVDs back from the restoration company and they were in perfect shape................
This show is just 1000% better if you can sit down and take in 2-3 episodes at a time. I think, for me anyway, the one week lapse between episodes took the edge off. Without a doubt, had this show been produced before Saving Private Ryan, it would have really been a breakthrough epic like SPR is viewed now- I think SPR just really raised the bar on war film hyper realism and viewers are now a little more immune to all the graphic death than they were pre SPR.
Anyway, this is really a landmark series that does the Corps proud. Thank God Almighty I never had to fight in that hellhole. The stress and mental anguish of the island hopping is just beyond my ability to comprehend.
Semper Fi Marines- you guys did the nation proud.
