Anyone else noticed rising prices in certain areas of interest here in this blessed plot?
Tommy Atkins foot figure castings are at £4 and circa £10 for mounted. £12 to £14 painted and boxed for the foot and c. £30 for painted and boxed for the mounted figures
Rose Miniatures are only available in castings at £8/£16 for foot / mounted respectively.
Tradition castings are £8.95 to £9.95 for foot and £17.95 to £ 19.95 for most mounted castings. Painted are c£16 for foot if bought in sets and c£39.50 for mounted - again if bought in sets.
W Britain glossies are only available painted and the latest mounted issues in Regiments series retail at around £63 and foot around £20 to £30.
I am not sure of past prices but I seem to recall Tradition foot castings were under £6 not so long ago and Britains mounted glossies were around £45 with the foot c. £15-£18.
So a Britains mounted is over 50% more than a Tradition which itself is 33% more than Tommy A.
Are we suffering from the fall in the value of the pound? A rise in labour costs in China? A push for profit to help sustain the products we love? I don't know the answer except that my pocket money doesn't go as far as it used to unless you pick up bargains at auction / eBay.
What do others think?
