Shaara - of "God's and Generals" fame - has a new WWII historical fiction book coming out in Nov. The first of a trilogy - this one set primarily in N. Africa. Some of his books are a bit much on the drama, but makes for some light reading.

I read his Civil War stuff, as well as his Mexican War and WWI novels, so I would definitely read a WWII novel by him.

If I may make a suggestion, you should check out Shaara's two books about the American Revolution, Rise to Rebellion and The Glorious Cause. Very good reading!

I picked up "The Rising Tide" yesterday, and am about 100 pages in. So far, very entertaining.
