Hi Guys,

Seeing and enjoying Duke’s latest ‘Commando Raid’ scene made me think back to another of Gordon’s little gems which he produced around the time we launched our ‘Cockleshell Canoe’ raiders.

Here are a couple of slight variations of our Commandos taking care of some unfortunate German sentries...

All the best,
Andy

I remember seeing these Andy and are great looking scenes. Gordon did a fine job on this as he always did. I need to add a few more Commandos to my collection.

Beautiful diorama! Gordon was an artist in building dioramas. I always looked forward to the things he made for the toy soldier shows? Especially the Chicago show was one of mine that I was really looking forward to. Isn't there a possibility that we could do something on the forum this year in the week the show had been? Room sales on the forum?

Andy thanks for sharing.🙏🏼

Really well thought out diorama. Certainly Gordon was a terrific model builder, a real artist and a big loss to this hobby. Hoping to see that hinted Roman street scene, Andy had in mind for this year’s Chicago show. At least this will help with what might have been. Robin.

I treasure my "Collector" dedicated to Gordon. But in my heart i hope in the future in a book with all his dioramas.

3 nice little dioramas but all very " bloody"
Guy:)

Hi Guy,
Sad to say there are relatively few non ‘bloody’ ways of getting rid of an enemy sentry...
Maybe next time I’ll put some sleeping pills in the guard’s cocoa...
All the best,
Andy.

When I drafted the text for the King & Country book, there was originally a chapter, later intended to be a volume, on King & Country diorama materials, K&C's original production dioramas (for their flyers, for shows, and [like the Vietnam Firebase] for sale to collectors), and Gordon's later custom diorama production. The text at the time was based on the diorama materials and dioramas in Hans Hedrich, Larry Lo's and my collections, which covered all of the production diorama materials, and more than 30 of the custom dioramas. We never got around to trying to publish that volume, which would have been one of my favorites. Gordon and Andy were pioneers in producing diorama materials and custom dioramas for our hobby, and I hope that Andy finds the time to publish the book he intended to write about Gordon's masterpieces.

Louis i think something can be submitted to , for example , publishing houses like Pen&Sword. A simple book, all pictures, and some historical description of the dioramas. Not more than 100 pages. I think it possible.

Kevin Elliott and myself used Blurb to publish the four volumes from the original K&C Book we had written:

and a fifth, on K&C's coverage of desert warfare, hopefully will be published shortly. As you can see from the cover photographs, these volumes have depictions of most of the K&C diorama materials and dioramas as backdrops for the figures, vehicles and warbirds being portrayed. Unfortunately, we never did the photography of the individual dioramas and diorama materials for a volume on that issue, and Kevin, the photographer for the project, has since been disabled and is unable to travel to the United States to complete the photography. We will have to rely on Andy to get a book about Gordon's masterpieces published.
