Earlier this year, Max Boot's book about Edward Lansdale was published. Lansdale is a key figure in how we became involved in Vietnam. Without Lansdale's support and US financial backing, Diem probably doesn't become President of South Vietnam and without Diem, there is probably no South Vietnam or American involvement in Vietnam. The book is brilliant.
