Once again Randy your photograph and their presentation of your Britain figures are a site to see.......The Lt.

I'm waiting mine...:)Beautiful figure , one of the best of the year for all brands and ranges.

Very nice Randy. I've ordered one and boy it sure looks good!

How come you got yours first :D:rolleyes:

Thank you all. Believe me I wish this would expand to an entire series. The detail on this figure and the earlier Camel Corps Guardsman and the forthcoming Camel Corps officer are first rate. The WB Classics are what got me collecting glossies again. Their level of realism is that of matte figures. I have felt all along that WB and Ken have taken glossies to a whole new dimension. I know some of you have coated them with a matte finish and obtained excellent results.

Randy

Great figure and great photo. I think I need to get more Britains ...

great photo Randy love the figure (apart from that stand) im hoping they expand into an entire series with these aswell the 2 camel corps figures are excellent maybe in the future we can get a dismounted guardsman walking & holding the reins of his camel ?

Camel Corps: The thing that bothers me a bid is that both are the same camels. I wish they had made at least a slight change to the new issue.

Dismounted sounds good - I hope with a slightly different camel (or is it dromedar?)

It's a Dromedar..we in Italy have an easy way to say if it's a camel or a dromedar ..Cammello is camel 2m's in the name = 2 hunches...dromedario is dromedar 1 m = 1 hunch...easy!By the way is not the same animal..it's a slightly different sculpt judging by the images.

the new officers camel does look very similar to the 1st release but i do think there are slight changes to the position of its head & it seems to be kitted out more ornately aswell, if they do make a dismounted version of the guardsmen i hope the camel is changed a bit more

I revived this thread because I have a question about the painting of this figure. You will notice that in Randy's encellent photo that the figure has black piping on his sleeves. I don't remember seeling this on khaki clad british figures befpre.

Does anyone here know the meaning of the color? Do other regiments have differert ones?

I currently painting two figures. One from the 4th Hussars and the other from the 21st Lancers in khaki and would like to add this detail. Thanks! :D

The Osprey volume on the Sudan shows the black sleeve piping

However, the drawing by Richard Caton Woodville a British war artist for the Illustrated London News does not show it. Woodville was sent to Egypt and the Sudan by the paper. If this is a field sketch it my be lacking in details such as the piping.

The Valiant figure of the young Winston Churchill when he was assigned to the 21st Lancers shows the black piping.

Randy, I was using the Osprey book for a reference. I always thought that was a seam in the sleeve, but not actually a different color, just shading so the seam detail would show properly. Notice that on the dismounted figure you can't see the seam.

I would think that when Churchill was assigned to the 21st Lancers, that he would still retain the uniform of the 4th Hussars.

Does anyone know if they in fact correct? Did they changed uniforms for a temp reassignement?
