A recent purchase that is just off the chart. I can not tell you how excited I was to buy them. Only exceeded this afternoon when they arrived here at my home and I was able to hold them in my hands!

The Teddy Roosevelt set with the marching Rough Riders was the first K&C set I ever purchased, back in the winter of 1993/1994. It is still one of my favorites. Congratulations!:smile2:

About a week ago as I was going through some older threads, and I came across a link to your book which allowed you to preview a few pages. One of the page previews was your intro page where you wrote about this very set. And I agree!

This is the second glossy K&C set that I have purchased over the past couple of weeks. Although I buy nearly anything that I find interesting, my main focushas been Hocker & Imperial soldiers. My past purchases of K&C matte figures have been all over the place, but with the purchase of these older K&C glossy sets, I may have to reconsider the direction of my collection. The detail on the RR set is great. The feel, the weight and the look. These are a happy medium between traditional glossy soldiers of the past and the matte finish commonly seen today in K&C products.

Most of the K&C glossy production between 1993 and 1997 when they switched totally to matt are painted in this "happy medium" style. You should take a look at the "Les Miserables" set, the glossy Napoleonics, the late production Seaforths and the Palio Race (Sienna) Standard Bearers for some other examples of this style of glossy painting.

I have this set and it's a great set. Congratulations. Have you ever looked at the older matte RR sets. They are also quite nice, as are the newer ones put out by K & C Texas.

Very nice!
I have a couple of these and I noticed that there seemed to be various runs with major differences. My two mounted figures have green bases. The Teddy has stones painted in in light gray. It is very different to the ones seen on eBay with a sand color base. Same with the marching infantrymen. The painting and even the casting of the sand color based figures if compared to the green base figures.
Do you guys know if the sand color bases was an earlier run? Later run?
TIA
E
