The founder of Skinner's Horse was James Skinner (1778-1841). He was Anglo-Indian born in Calcutta (his father was a British officer in the East India Company Army and his mother a Rajput princess) and also known as Sikindar Sahib and founded in 1803 two cavalry regiments, the 1st Skinner's Horse and 3rd Skinner's Horse. They were called the Skinner's Horse or the "Yellow Boys" because of the color of their uniforms. These regiments are still part of the Indian Army.
