This another great release. The flags appear to be hand painted to my eye. The figures are well-detailed and nicely painted as usual. The drummer and pikeman in blue (TYW021) are my favorites of the set. Seeing these Spanish makes me wish for a Aztecs-Spanish conquistadors series from First Legion. I hope that you enjoy the photos.

Very nice display of some beautiful figures you have there! May I ask where you obtained the display case?

Iconic 30 year war army. You could really go to town on these as an army builder, very nice. Robin.

I have around 20 of the Kronprinz thirty years war Spanish figures. Tempted by a few of the FL figures to add a bit more quality to my line up. They look really good and well displayed. Gary

Great collection. And well displayed. FL seems to pick certain ranges to give it some special (painting) attention and this as well as the "Retreat from Russia" subrange seem to be part of it. The next one could be the new samurai.

Thank you. I purchased it from Michaels. It started out life as a football display case.

Thanks so much, Matt! I have a curio that still has plenty of room in it, but it would be nice to maybe use some of the display cases you have for some smaller dios. I'll go by Michaels and check them out sometime soon. :)

May I ask where you got the green ground mat? Thanks!

Sure. I purchased it from my local hobby shop in the scenics section for model trains. It is called a Ready Grass vinyl mat. They come in various colors and are relatively cheap (~$4).

Did you have to cut it in order for it to fit within the case? If so you did a perfect job at it!

I did have to cut it. If you end up buying one of these football cases from Michael's, a mat measuring 12" x 8.25" works well. A length a little longer than 12" would work, too. I went with 12" because the length of the Build A Rama mats that I have in some of my other cases was 12". Plus, a 12" ruler is always easy to find. While the Build A Rama mats look a bit nicer, I found that my figures were more likely to topple when compared to the vinyl train mats.

Thanks! And I can see how the figures would topple from looking at the Build A Rama material.

Thanks for the info. I need flat mats for my ACW swoppet diorama. That flat mat would work well for any light figures or metal figures on narrow bases such as the figures produced by Alexander's Toy Soldiers.

I have bought so many of those cases for toy soldiers. They do work well, especially if you have enough light in the display area.
