To those of you who knew Doug personally, and to those of you who knew him on this forum as U505, I am sorry to inform you that he passed away yesterday from complications of his Parkinsons Disease and Kidney Failure. He was only 59.

As you may remember, we honored Doug at a special mini-symposium last Summer, when he was well enough to leave the hospital. He was one of the nicest and most honorable men this hobby brought me into contact with, and he will be sorely missed.

I am dedicating this years Symposium to his memory, and those of us who have good memories of Doug are asked to share them at the Symposium, or here on this thread, so we can celebrate Doug, a wonderful friend, collector and man. For those of you in the New York area, his wake is Monday afternoon from 2:00 to 4:00 and evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bedelle & Pizzo Funeral Home at 74-47 Amboy Road, Staten Island, NY. I will be sending a floral arrangement in the name of all Doug's collector friends.

I am sorry to hear of Doug Storks passing. Although I did not know him personally I enjoyed his participation in the forum when it first started. I enjoyed the pictures he posted and interest in the U-505. My respects and sympathies to his family. John

I am truly sad to hear about this. I'd only known Doug for about a year but he had become a dear friend. He was a wonderful man and I'll always have great memories about the last time Louis, Larry and I got together with Doug last year at the hospital. We took Doug out to lunch and it was a great time. Things were looking up for Doug and he was looking forward to getting out of the hospital. He even attended the show at Fairleigh Dickinson and then things unfortunately didn't go as planned. He was (and is) a great guy.

I just spoke to Doug's wife, Regina, and she wanted me to say that his soldier friends meant a lot to Doug. In the last couple of days, he was very weak but when Tony bought him some photo of toy soldier related materials Doug gave the thumbs up sign. Doug was at peace when he passed away and that's all we can ask for any of us. I will pass our best wishes when I stop by tomorrow night.

Doug's good friend Tony emailed me last night to tell me of Doug's passing. Doug was a good customer of mine, but more importantly, he was a great person and I considered him a friend as well as a customer, as I do with a lot of the members of this forum.

I had the pleasure of meeting him two years ago at a show in Somerset New Jersey and got to know him during the past couple of years. He was a very enthusiastic collector and I will never forget how his he reacted when he met Andy at the Schutzen Park show last year. To say he was star struck was an understatement. His health had somewhat declined at that show and the next time I saw him at Hackensack in the Fall, it had sadly gotten worse. I spoke with him often via phone and email and I will miss him very much.............................

I'm sorry to hear of his passing. From previous posts I thought that he was coping better with Parkinsons. I found his responses on Mindfield quite interesting, and his posts on his lucky U-boat numbers (and his Hans5005 to plate IXC U505) good humoured ones. Although I never met him I gather that he was once a big soldat fan as well as a K&C one. I hope that he passed away peacefully.

My sympathies to his family and all his friends, he was so young.

Pierre.

Please accept my sympathies to his family and all his friends. I only spoke

with Doug once, but found him an interesting man who will be missed.

Njja

My prayers and sympathies also. I remember him in the early days of the forum.

Thank you Louis for keeping us posted. Saddened to hear of Doug's passing. I never had the opportunity to meet Mr Stork but it was always a pleasure to read his posts. I think we as a board become more than just collectors from around the world, we become our own special "Band of Brothers" and unfortunately we have lost one of our own.
My thoughts and wishes go out to his family and friends.

Doug was one of our earliest forum members and will truly be missed. I am so glad Louis honored him at his symposium last year while he was still with us. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this extremely difficult time.

I didn't know and never met Doug Stork, but he's in my Prayer's, along with my Brother, who also just passed away at a young age ! My Deepest Sympathy and Condolence to his Family! Johngambale.

Doug's widow, Regina Stork, attended the opening dinner at the Symposium last night. I think she enjoyed the good wishes of all of Doug's collector friends and the toast we made to his memory.

My very best wishes to Mrs Stork, family and friends. Being new here I did not know Doug, but it's always sad to loose some one who shares a common bound.

Fred

Doug was a wonderful friend with a great sense of humor and a twinkle in his eye. He will be missed by all his friends. Doug's good friend Tony, who attended the Symposium, read all that was said about Doug and really appreciate it. Tony is a big time collector and plans to join the Forum so I hope he posts some reminescences about Doug. Doug's wife Regina joined us on Friday and showed me some of the photos of the train layouts she and Doug put together when Doug was interested in trains. They were pretty impressive. He was a talented guy.
