Dear Friends of The Texas Toy Soldier Show,

We are delighted to welcome you to the 10th Annual Texas Toy Soldier show in The Historic Menger Hotel in San Antonio, Texas.

We have some very exciting news to share. Firstly, we are thrilled that the show participation has increased by 20% this year and we have acquired “The Patio Room” to accommodate the increase in vendors.

Secondly, The Menger Hotel has been sold to new management. As a result, we are, alas, unable to offer “ The Symposium” this year but plan on hosting it again next year…even bigger even better!

Every year King & Country and King’s X produce a very special figurine that is only sold during and immediately after The Texas Toy Soldier Show…in very limited numbers . This 10th Anniversary Year we are honouring General (later President) Dwight D. Eisenhower, the Supreme Allied Commander of all American, British & Canadian Forces during and after the D.Day Invasion of Europe in June 1944. Our specially sculpted figure shows “Ike” in a typical pose, hands on hips and wearing the famous short battle jacket named after him. Just 200 of the special “ Show ” version of this figure have been created for the event. First come – first served!

Advance tickets to the show can be purchased directly from King’s X, or on the actual Show Days.

If you’re coming to our show as either a vendor or an attendee be sure not to miss our “Friday Night Welcome Party”. This year, for the first time, we’re taking over the famous MENGER BAR, where Teddy Roosevelt raised his own Regiment of US Volunteer Cavalry “The Rough Riders” for the Spanish American War of 1898. We want to give you a real ‘ Texas Welcome’! So, come and join us between 6-8pm in the Menger Bar. We’re looking forward to seeing y’all…

From all your Texas Friends at King’s X and King & Country

Andy,

Thanks for the updates. Was looking forward to the symposium as in years past, but I guess the new owners have changed things around a wee bit !
Is the Friday party from 6 PM till 8 PM exclusive to show participants only or is the Menger Bar open to all ?

Hi Andy,

I too can't wait for the Show, but I must say that I am bummed that there is no Dinner this year. I really enjoy breaking bread with my fellow comrades and celebrating the TTSS. I must also admit that I absolutely love the enchiladas, fajitas and all the trimmings that the Menger Kitchen staff whips up. That dinner is REALLY good and the service is impeccable! Also, we don't get to see everybody dressed up in the "nines" and listen to a great speaker.

So, what are we going to do Saturday night?

How about we get a couple of Food Trucks and park 'em in front of Kings X and have a street party, have our own little parade, contests and then the new GM at the Menger will "get the picture".

Or we can catch the trolley down to Market Square and hit La Margarita's for some Enchiladas Suizas. We could go to the Spaghetti Factory and raise hell over Lasagna and listen to Mike Miller give a speech on his Harley. If that is too loose, we can mosey on down to Landry's Seafood and use my double secret probation black card to get seated at once...naw to stiff! The hell with it...we could go to the RiverCenter's food court and grab a Gyro with fries.

Or we could go to McDonalds around the corner from the Menger. WAIT...NO...lets go to Fuddruckers across the street!

Or I could just go home after the first day of the show and (sniff, sniff) eat leftovers.
