What is the one (or more than one) toy soldier set purchase that you failed to make and to this day you regret that decision. And if you care to add what the cost of that set and what was the reason for not buying the set.

The purchase I most regret not making was not buying the the Trophy AZW Hospital set and Storehouse set, both were available, for $600.00.

At the time, I was only collecting for a short time and I was not very knowledgable about Toy Soldiers, also I was only buying one manufacturer's product. I am not sure why I felt that one should only buy one company's product. I have since ammended my ways and expanded to other periods and manufacturers.

I'm still kicking myself for not buying a Heco Spitfire back in 1998 from Classic Toys, but it was around $300, which was a lot of money to me back then.

I have been very lucky. I got into the hobby collecting just WW2 just after the quality went up and the number of new pieces and manufacturers increased. I was able to get the quality pieces I had missed from dealer stock or at reasonable or even low prices from e-bay. I have seriously overpaid for 5 scarce items I really wanted. Also got some good advice from experienced collectors like Louis on what to get before the items truly disappeared.

If I had started collecting even 6 months later, I wouldn't have half of the collection I have now.

The one piece I regret not getting is the Patton Staff car with him and his dog. Licensing costs will probably prevent a remake.

To be honest I think I can say that at the moment there is not one single set that I regret not buying. I only collect from one maker and there is so much to choose from currently that I can't afford to buy everything anyway.

When I really got interested in King & Country I began looking for the RO13

Roman Arch modeled after the Arch of Constantine in Rome. It was retired and

I was never able to track one down as the price got higher and higher! It took

me serveral years but I was finally able to add this great piece to my

collection!

Another item that sort of fits this topic would be Andy's SS Headquarters

Diorama built for the release of his Arnhem Series in Chicago. It was owned

by Bill Moore and he sent me photos of his collection when I made a purchase

from him.:) It was not available at that time, but I spoke to him about it for

a period of several years. It was always on my mind, I really liked the

layout of the piece....the destroyed bridge, stairway to the river, street

scene, destroyed church.....finally we were speaking about another figure

and a deal was struck!:D The item was carefully packed by Bill and arrived

safe and sound and now I get to enjoy it every day!:) It just goes to show

if you are patient you can find just about anything.

Hi Guys,

If I had to narrow it down to one set I would say Imperial's Cameron Highlanders in Action Set from the Heirloom series. Its right up there at the top of my biggest bone head moves list. Now I will have to pay a lot more for one and hope its intact and not damaged.

All of the Imperial Productions Nap line. And second place their Brit colonial line too. Trying some late catch up.

figarti 88mm:D and probably will regret in the future not getting the figarti e boat...

Can't say I really regret anything. You can only purchase what you can afford. I never look back as there's no profit in it.

Life is simply too short to dwell on one's past mistakes.

More importantly, one must learn from one's past errors.

If a person allows him/herself to wallow in self pity, it serves no purpose.

Just press on.....learn to turn adversity into advantage.

Kind Regards, Raymond.

The only regret I have about missed pieces is the HB Gold Edition Tigers. I would have loved one but they were way out of my financial reach. -- Al
