I finally got the chance to relive this movie again after about 40 years!!! Yul Brynner stars as a mercenary fighter in a post-holocaust New York urban setting. Max von Sydow is the leader of a hippie commune surviving on hybrid seeds. Sydow hires Brynner to take these seeds and his daughter to a new land to start afresh. Along the way, the pair has to brave the New York subway system and other crazed hippies. William Smith, the evergreen villain, is in top form here. The last fight scene with him swinging a metal ball (without actually hurting anyone including himself) must have been difficult to choreograph. Worth seeing.

William Smith is one of the all-time great villians that hardly anyone knows. He was one of the Rangers in the western, Laredo. He has been around forever and done dozens of shows. In a scene similar to the swinging metal ball, he swung a heavy chain in a fight with Cain in Kung Fu. Great character actor. -- Al

They dont make em any tougher then big Bill Smith and a real nice guy from what i understand!
But what a life he has had just amazing..he was in the korean war rolled a jeep and pulled two guys out from the wreck.
He is Fluent in Russian,Croation,French and German he worked for the CIA and NSA.
And flew secret missions over Russia.
30-1 amateur boxing record,A two time arm-wreastling champ also the US Air force weightlifting champ.
has a black belt in kenpo karate and did kung fu as well,played american football in Germany,also competed in motercross and downhill skiing and won a bodybuilding title back in the 1960's.
And i think he has a Masters degree in Russian studies,then theres decades of doing TV and Films phew talk about packing a lot into ones life!...and he's still only 79 years young ^&cool
