The Village pump

Here is a pedestal diorama that was built a little over a year ago. I now only have one wooden candle stand left, but it was assembled crooked and I need to cut it apart and reassemble it before a scene can be built on it. This one features a variety of Napoleonic period Village Green civilians and Jack Tars & Leatherneck figures. I often try to choose poses that might work together between collections if they are in the same time period to allow different stories to be told. The village pump that was based on a couple different ones photographed in my travels was used to serve as a focal point for the display. The pump was framed with a couple of small scratch built trees and at the last minute I added some red roses at their base to tie the uniforms of the Royal Marines on the left side with the red Spencer jacket worn by the lady in conversation on the right side. For a couple of photos one of my buildings was elevated on a few empty W.Britain boxes between the pedestal and the backdrop to imply that they are in a small village. I hope to build a similar display in the near future using the same pump with a selection of WWII figures.
