All,

Saw it last night. I gotta tell you this one has legs man. This flick was not hookey...no it was down right freaky. I mean the acting was stupendous even for the kids who acted in it. The opening scene(s) almost made me hurl my chips and queso. Yeah, it was that disturbing at first. I think you east coast guys would dig it, since it is billed as a "New England Witch Tale" or something. It has got some serious creepy going on in that flick.

Look, this one is a collection of fables, stories and legends that combine to tell a tale. A very, very good tale. But, I think I would have a hard time watching it again, as it goes into the deep depths of the whole "does Satan exist" thought process. It is disturbing and the final shot is supernaturally eerie, yet cinematically cool.

Apparently, this is a first time director movie and he did a hell of a job.

Go see it and give us your thoughts. It is NOT a cheeky, cheesy popcorn flick. This is not one for the kids. In fact, I am so glad we did not take our youngest as this movie is nightmare-ville.

I heard good things about it but haven't taken my own advice and seen it. It must have been a frightening place to come to America in the 1600's. You can almost understand the level of superstition. Think about the isolation and dangers of the time. If we lose our cell phones and power for a few hours people freak out today. Think about what it would have been like back then living in some isolated place. The darkness alone in the absence of electricity would have been profound.
