The World Wars (History Channel Series) (1 Viewer)

It certainly looks like it could be entertaining but the trailer has several red flags from an accuracy POV. I particularly want to see how a WW2 Stuart tank got into an advance with what looks like British troops in WW1 kit. Even so, it will be interesting to see what road this show takes. -- Al

Not bad for the first hour. I liked "37 Days: The Countdown To World War 1"
better.

Probably figured the Stuart looked close enough to the Renault tank that we were using in WW1...Michael

All in all I enjoyed the series as it finished up tonight. What did you all think of it?

Still not scheduled by History Channel to air in this latitude... Normally it does with a few months delay. Can't wait to see it!

I watched the series again yesterday for the second time. I like how they explained some of the behind the scenes thinking of world leaders which influenced their thought
process, causing them to make the decisions that they wound up making. It was amazing how the Allies let Germany sweep through Europe until finally Britain stepped
into action. I find it a shame that Winston Churchill got voted out of office after the war. To me he was a perfect war time leader for England.

I recorded all three so I could re-watch if needed. I really enjoyed the way it was presented ... some where between a documentary and a movie. I can't not attest to the accuracy of everything, however it agreed with what I did know. They did a good job of squeezing 30 something years into about 6 hours.

Was it really true that during WWI a British Private had Corporal Hitler in his sights AND DIDN'T SHOOT? .... {sm2}

I was wondering about that as well. That's the first I have heard of that story before.

Even if a soldier did have Hitler .. Dead to rights .. how did he even know it was him then or even later? :confused:

I believe the story goes that during WWI Hitler was standing next to one of his fellow soldier comrades and an enemy bullet hit and killed the man next to him.
The story goes "6 inches more and it would have hit him instead" Talk about a shot that would have really changed the course of History ! {sm2}

Yeah, the Stuart Tank drove me a little crazy. But did like the presentation. I like, That the History Channel and History2 are actually doing History, not the shows that they do now. I would not mind it I guess, just as long as in any given day there is something that deals with History, A few hours in any given day.
