I really like the Thomas Gunn Panzer IV, especially since it came with no decals.

This will be a slow conversion, as I need to order decals and still haven't found the box with all my paints, washes and tools (moving houses), but I started tinkering. The schürzen panels were the first to get messed with. If you are like me, and like the flexibility of individual panels, it's super simple to break the schürzen apart. The panels are already scored from the factory, so all you have to do is gently bend them back and forth until they separate. The break apart clean, and mount securely as individual panels. The forward most section needs to be thrown away, as it is historically inaccurate for the early mounting system.

I still need to figure out how to cut squares in the middle of the panels. While they're thin, I don't think a hobby knife will suffice. Maybe a square belt punch? We'll see.

Here's some pics:

HR,
This looks like a great project. I was fortunate to pick up a second, myself.

Will probably go 4th PD, but look forward to what you will do with 2nd PD.

4. Pz.Div. was definitely in the running, but my War Park winter Panzer IV Ausf H will be getting the 4th Panzer for the relief of Kovel treatment, so I wanted a little variety.

I also am hoping Thomas Gunn does a zimmerit version of this tank with the later schürzen mounting system. If so, that will be getting converted to 4. Pz.Div. during summer '44.

I want to use mine with my with Micharti custom Luchs, Opel Blitz and Halftrack.

Update on the tank.

Finally found the decals and model supplies. Broke everything out and made a little progress. Today was decal day. Did waterslide decals for the first time. I definitely prefer archer dry transfers; they're so much quicker and easier. I wish Archer produced more unique vehicle sets.

One annoyance was my Milliput went bad. It wouldn't harden, so I couldn't fill in the holes in the rear. Had it all applied and smooth but then had to scrape it off. Plan is for another Trident divisional symbol and a Balkenkreuz in the middle of the holes. But I may just add track links back to cover it up.

Think I got everything lined up. The numbers took forever, but think I finally got them straight...:salute::
