Nope, we didn't see the 3D version. It's fun. Mostly CGI and and BAD dialog. I'd like a unit of the Cardinal's guards in 1/32 scale! Look for the model army of large "flats" in the Cardinal's office.

Its the 22nd version i think?...they are a creative lot there in Hollywood :rolleyes2:

Just from the commercials, this looks like the worst adaptation ever. Looks like sci-fi. :D -- Al

Tradition have Cardinal Richelieu and his guard in their range. Trooper

Scott,
You beat to me to it on starting the thread.

Just watched The Three Musketeers.

Enjoyable action adventure romance comedy type movie. Good cast even though some not so well known. Athos played by Mathew Macfaden of Spooks and Pillars of the Earth (the Abbot). Porthos played by the actor who was the big legionairre in the Rome series. Did not recognise Aramis (looked a bit like Heath Ledger) or D'Artagnan. Orlando Bloom as the Duke of Buckingham representing the evil English. Mila Jovacovic (Spelling ?)a bit like a female Tom Cruise (ie. Mission Impossible like) of the 1700's. The cunning Cardinal played by Christoph Waltz of Inglorious Basterds and he has a cool floor with map of Europe and soldiers and ships on it (would be good for Risk or Diplomacy players).

My wife and I were seated in front of some teenagers. A trailer for the next Twilight movie was shown and this involves a marriage and pregnancy (sorry for ruining the excitement for any fans here on the forum). One of the female teenagers was a serious "Twihard" and was incredibly excited, almost emotional. She was making the sort of noise a kid makes when they see a cute puppy. My wife and I had diffculty not laughing out loud.

On the way out saw a poster for a movie called The Immortals which is made by the guys who did 300. Never heard of this one before.

Regards
Brett

I say the 1970s Richard Lester version was the best. Lester did throw in a submarine and a few gadgets. The sci-fi aspect on this one was a fictional DeVinci plan. The art director folks went over the top with the Cardinal's air ship. My Dear Wife got a little "Harrumphy" about the ship's skeletons and scorpions motif. I think they will get letters from The Church.

The Immortals is another Greek Myth GCI film. Could be fun and I hope it is better than the remake of Clash of the Titans. My almost 16 year old said NO to the Twilight movie. We all said yes to the next Sherlock Holmes trailer.

Christoph Waltz was a pretty good Cardinal. Charleton Heston played him really well and Vincent Price played him as just "Richelieu" (maybe to not offend Catholics) Waltz is good because you have to show Richelieu as ruthless, scheming and maybe "evil" but not crazy or stupid. He has to be charming as well.
