I'm looking forward to the release of the new figures too. John indicated to me (email)that he will be passing on some good of them this week.

When that is issued I have permissionto show off my painting of one of the 42nd Foot Greandiers that was on show in Chicago last month. The resin figure has come 'down under for his 'lick of paint', but my painting style is different from John's but he a fine figure so you can see the finely detailed scuplting. Hopefully I can show you all next week?

John

Howe had a fellow named Moneypenny standing next to him at the time he was killed. That alone should ensure that John does "The Death of Howe".

The Battle lasted for about 6 hours with various British units moving as to the point of their attack and position. For example, early in the Battle the 42nd was on the French left, but by end of the battle, the 42nd was on the French right.

Initially, the 42nd probably hit the Languedoc, La Sarre Regiments and volunteer Canadian companies trying to both break and go around the French left. Failed. The strongest assault by the 42nd was made around 5 PM against the La Reine, Bearn, and Guyenne Regiments on the French right. Pressure then shifted to the Center-Right. From Osprey: "The most intense assault by the 42nd Highlanders in the late afternoon was defended by the Royal-Roussillion" with the Berry also being attacked by 42nd.

A small group of Highlanders, about 20, forced their way over the French entrenchment against the Bearn. Most were quickly killed with 6 -7 captured.

My prediction is BEARN!!! BAH!!! Bearn Regimental Flag lacks the needed SNAZZY, no idea, now >>>>

These guys had a busy day.

yes...his great grand mother starred in the Bond series...

Okay Ken...you have permission to revise your pick...

1) Roussillion
2) Marines
3) de La Reine
4) de La Sarre

My prediction for the opposing french regiment based on total speculation and no supporting evidence is: Regiment Bearn

http://www.militaryheritage.com/bearn.htm:

Uniform description is on the bottom of the page. Figure is a grenadier, but not in a bear-skin hat. There are snazzier possibilities where the cuffs and waistcoat are different colors, and somewhat snazzier flags and regimental names, but then I also predicted Grant's Defeat as the next release and voted for Willkie, so .......

I'm looking forward to getting some French flag bearers. There is a real flag disparity between the French and Brits so far. Hard to believe we only have one French flag and no French grenadiers.

I would love to see it painted John...

Well here he is, seeing that John's information on the new figures, Battle of Fort Carillon series ,was announced in the Treefrog Rivet thats come in last night.

This is my painting of the resin figures of the Black Watch Grenadier advancing.

Simply Superb!!! No way, I would try to tackle plaid even if I could paint!!! Now we just need to get Combat a figure painted as Royal Regiment!!

That is excellent.I think you could paint for Jenkins.Great Job.

John...
Thankyou for showing your painted grenadier, you sure have
done a fabulous painting job on him. Cant wait to get my hands
on those fellas when they come out. Thanks again now we know
what to look for.

Thanks for all you kind comments about my painting of this new figure.

Good news is that my friend Jim, who brought them back from Chicago have given me another to paint. This time its a grenadier advancing with his musket pointing in front, holding it level.

I hope to get him painted this week for you all.

The first figure I showed was coded TIC - 10 underneath, the next one s TIC-11 if thats any use in a catalog.

By the way, both soldiers are fully equipped, both with weapons and thier 'personal euipment', hidden under the kilt :) :)

regards,

John

Excellent work!
This will be a great series and your painting really whets my appetite........:):)

Great work again John...very nice job on the painting...

OK guys, this is what you have been waiting for......

the other Black Watch grenadier, TIC-11 just finished this morning.

I've show him with his other mate, as they advance across a field of damaged timber. The other 4 figures now on the Treefrog site also show this type of base, so I'm sure looking forward to see some great dioramas when all of the troops are relaesed onto the battlefield.

Awesome yet again!!!

I noticed how you added the red stripes to the grenadier kilt. Really nice touch. Some think that only the grenadier kilts had the red stripe included in the pattern. The regular 42nd as painted by JJD does not appear to the the red stripe in the kilts. Seems you both get an "A" from this rivet counter!!!
