At a local antique store I found a group of flat tin type soldiers that look like they are from the turn of the century. There are about 8 of them and they come with a couple of toy cannons and a diorama to put them on. The soldiers and the diorama seem to be depicting the Boxer Rebellion and the troops are all French.

The antique dealer is a reputable fellow I have dealt with several time in the past for other things. He freely admits he is not an expert on toy soldiers and does not know that much about this set nor did the man he bought them from. I was wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction to learn more about these soldiers. I am thinking of buying them but am not sure what a fair price is and I would just like to learn more.

Thanks for all your help,

Hi,

I would say that if you like the figures and you think the price is fair then pick them up they sound very interesting. I am not sure where to send you for a book on these types of soldiers I would do a search of Edward R Hamiltons book site they have a lot of books that a fairly priced. But like I said before if you like them get them.

Dave
