Hi, Has anyone had any dealings with a company named Tinbay in the States ?, I ordered & paid for some figures from this company on the 8th March & was told they would be ready in approx three weeks & to date I still have not recieved them after sending several emails requesting information.

Kind regards

Charlie

I've never dealt with them, and only vaguely recall having heard the name. I went to their site, at www.tinbay.com, and looked at their "About" page. They describe themselves as a joint venture between "leading design studios in Eastern Europe and a strong North American sales team." I would expect that there could be delays longer than the amount of time that they list on the site. Having had a brief look at the items on their website, some of them look familiar from eBay auctions I've seen. I suspect that they're buying castings from various makers, then farming them out to the painters, and then shipping them to buyers in the US and Western Europe. Probably started up, to try to get a share of the Russian-style connoisseur market.

Have you had responses to your emails, and if so, do they give you concrete info about when to expect your shipment, or are they vague about details?

Prost!

Hi there,

I havent delt with them but the last time I bought something direct from a Russian Company it took 6 weeks to show up (to the states) so perhaps it is still in route/customs.

Hi Brad,

Thanks for your reply i think you are right about what they do,and yes they are vague when they reply to my emails.

Hi Charlie
Did your figures ever arrive and, if so, were you pleased with them?
Has anyone else had recent dealings with tinbay?
They've some mouth-watering figures in their catalogue but are they reliable?
I sent an e-mail to them a week or so ago but no response so far.

Hello
I purchased Tinbay on a number of occasions and delivery was around 4 to 6 weeks. However I checked my e-mail log and can see it is 4 years since buying figures, however in 2014 I did contact Boris Bron at Tinbay about being unable to open their "new2 Napoleonic listing. He replied point that they were working on tech. difficulties.
As their figures were posted out from Ukraine maybe the current conflict in that part of the world is affecting their network of suppliers/painters? I am aware that this is speculation. The figures are good, I bought Napoleonic Guard Pioneers, Saxon Cavalry, and a Westfalian guardsman .
Yours Aye,
Douglas

That's very helpful Douglas, thank you.
I emailed the company a good week ago about buying some of their older Napoleonic figures but have had no response. As you say , it may well be because of the volatile situation there although someone has obviously been listing page after page of their catalogue on the internet recently.
One other question if I may. My collection of Napoleonics is limited (so far) to W Britains and First Legion. Are they compatible with them in terms of scale?
Thanks again
Howard

Hello Howard,
I would say TinBay and First Legion are very compatible re size and style. Perhaps not as detailed. Sorry my attempt to attach image failed. If you want you could contact me on the private message system and let me have your e-mail address. I can manage normal e-mail attachments.

Thanks Zac
I've done as you suggest so fingers crossed. I'd really like to get some of the Napoleonics to add to my First Legion figures.

As an aside, it took 2 months to receive a Beatle CD off E-bay via St.Petersberg(Leningrad) in good ole' Mother Russia.Patience has it's own rewards?Good luck to you.

Dear friends,
just found this topic and thought I should make a note here.
Tinbay is our dealer and i-shop for tin figures but I have no more info about their kind of work. We just manufacturing our figures for them and some other our dealers that somtime sell our figures under another brand name (like Miniwelt 10-15 years ago). But full line (and even more because we can't make photos for all options of our figures due some thousands soldiers we can make at this moment) you can get directly from us. I will update my posts on this forum and in my facebook page. We situated in Ukraine and still working although conflict in the east part of my country. We have some options for ordering our figures and making payments for but it is not always good for our foreign customers. Hope our reforms will upgrade our economic situation in Ukraine and I will make full functional i-store where you will order our fiures without any troubles and afraids. Mainly it mean full functional Paypal system for Ukraine (now we can use Paypal just for buying but not for selling things)
regards
