We've had top 10 war movies, but what are your top 10 songs. Here's some of mine:

1. Young Americans by David Bowie.
2. My Old School by Steely Dan.
3. Crazy Horse Blues by Bob Thompson (look this one up. Its really good).
4. Fooled Around & Fell in Love by Elvin Bishop.
5. Cisco Kid by War.
6. Midnight Train to Georgia by Glady Knight and the Pips.
7. Hey Joe by Jimmy Hendricks.
8. What is Hip by Tower of Power.
9. Help Me by Joni Mitchell.
10. Another Park, Another Sunday by the Doobie Brothers.

I've got way more. What's yours?

Any list has to have In A Gadda Da Vida and Sunshine of Your Love. I can't begin to tell you how many thousands of people on their way to becoming guitarists have learned SOYL.

Would have to think on numbers 2 thru 9 but #1 will always be "My Girl" by the Temptations.

Brad, see if you can find Crazy Horse Blues by Bob Thompson on the internet. It not Jazz per se, but you'd really like it. My favorite Eric Clapton song is Promises.

Gary, love the song My Girl. My favorite Temptation song is Papa was a Rolling Stone. What's your favorite Barry Manilow song?{sm4}

I take the "what's your favorite Barry Manilow song" as a gotcha! But this will really fry you. The other day I just bought 2 tickets to Barry Manilow's concert here in St Louis on March 31st.
What I always liked about Manilow was that he kept his wife out of the spot light!

Just having fun Gary. Nothing wrong with Barry Manilow. Enjoy the concert. This thread isn't doing too well. I thought we'd have more music lovers. These old songs really remind me of good past times. Just like my TS collection reminds me of playing with TS under the mango tree in my backyard when I was a kid.

You are right about old songs. I hear certain ones and it actually puts me back in time to a certain location or occasion. On my ipod I have about 8 songs grouped that transport me back to Ft Campbell Ky. Jan to March 1967 when I was going thru basic training.

It's hard to pick less than 10. I could pick almost every song on Aftermath and Between the Buttons and that would make the list. Some of my favorites of the Stones are the early stuff because at heart they were a blues band. Their version of Little Red Rooster, the Howling Wolf song, is outstanding.

Here's the original.

The Stones' version (which removes some of the power and blues ness of Howling Wolf's version).

Going Home is also a super song, where they push the beat and relax it several times. The out chorus is just great as it ends.
