Does anyone do any touch up painting on their figures? I have done a little with the ones I have that may have a few "rough" areas in the paint or where the paint has run onto other areas of the figure. Thanks!

Hi, Cameron, many of us do, from minor changes or touch-ups, to full repaints, both in matte and in glossy styles. Have a look through the Painting subforum for some threads on painting techniques and tips.

Prost!

Cameron, If you need any help with paint colors or mixes drop me a note - I have painted most of the W. Britain matt masters and I would be glad to help.

Thanks! I collect the ACW figures from Britains and have touched up a few of them. It's only really small spots on the figures. I have a hard time finding the best color to match such as the brown for the A.P. Hill figure here http://www.wbritain.com/products_detail.cfm?productID=45713

I'd be very interested in seeing a master list of paint colors for the civil war figures :). I'm probably not the only one. I'm sure it would be appreciated

It's really hard for me to find colors that go well with the civil war figures and have made a few mistakes doing so :rolleyes2: So for the most part I am going to stay away from trying to touch them up unless it's a color that I know will match, like black. lol

Hi!
I am the sculptor of all of the ACW figures made by W. Britain under 1st Gear ownership. Although Dave and Wendy both paint master figures for this range, on occasion I do too.
I along with Dave and Wendy, use mostly Acrylic colors made by Vallejo and Andrea for my master figures. Both of these are easy to use paints that are easy to mix and dry fast.
On occasion I will still use Humbrol flat enamels, and as a general rule I will always use enamel based paints for metallic finishes such as brass and silver.
When I am finished with the figures I will use Testor's Dullcoat flat Lacquer spray as a protective finish, and if I fell the need to detail anything with gloss finish I will use Testor's Gloss finish from a bottle.

I hope this helps,

Welcome to the forum! I will be dropping you a note at some point I'm sure.

As to touching up figures, I only do it if I find a chip, but the latest couple French line figures make me want to redo their faces, no offence to WB, but they just aren't as good as previous ones.
