Have the forum members changed the way they bugdet for toy soldiers in this challenging economic time.

I still try to put twenty dollars or more a payperiod aside for toy solidiers and still put all my loose change aside in a jar for toy soldiers, but I still plan to splurge at the OTSN since it is so close to my birthday.

The one thing I try not to do anymore is any impluse buying, it works sometimes.:D

Personally I am not planning on any additional spending, which is quite a shift from normal. I believe production numbers are far to high, far to many people I have never heard of are selling items, and things appear to be out of control.

I'm going to take a break, look in on occasion for any classic items that may show up (don't expect to see many) and spend time with different items no longer in production.:)

I started my own business 3 years ago and is starting to do well. I find that I have been buying more and taking a chance on sets, that I might not had bought, if I stayed at my old job..I have no gripes..Michael

I'm trying to be a little more prudent in my spending, not related to the recession, I've just had some of the normal kinds of bills we can expect as a homeowner (new oil burner, new hot water heater, repairs to my truck, all within a three-month span).

My spending habits haven't changed much either. I don't collect anyone particular series so I am not in a rush to buy stuff when it comes out. My last purchase was actually in July. Then I began to feel the grip of the Zulu war and thanks to members of the forum :D I was pulled through the hole and have actually commited myself to this wonderful collection. I now feel the need to have all of the pieces to complete my dio, but will limit myself to maybe 1 or 2 pieces a month. I have a lot of catching up to do !!!

LOL!

No, it's a 2003 Ford Ranger.

My first car was a VW, though, a Scirocco. I had nearly 200K miles on it, when I got rid of it, it suffered from the same general design problems some German armor had in WWII-over-design. Some parts were so intricate that they were constantly breaking down. For example, for some reason, the coolant and the oil lines ran through a single piece, shaped like an X, with one liquid going through the one arm, and the other through the other arm. That piece continually developed hairline cracks, leaking one liquid into the other.

The Ranger hasn't given me any problems in the 5 years that I've had it, just wear and tear catching up to it now (new slave piston on the gearshift, parking brake cable seized up, needed a new windshield (stone chip on Rte 22), new oil gauge). These things seem to come, one after the other.

Prost!

Rt.22 - The worst designed road in all the Kingdom. Can't get on or off;)
Good luck with the Truck...It gets you to the ATM and the TS shows! Mine is a 98 Chevy Silverado with only 90G on it. I can just spray off the blood in the back and it's good to go!

No, I just keep buying, trying to do my part to keep the Toy Soldier Economy going.

I do a lot like you do to fund myself. I take a small percentage out of my paychecks and then any loose change, like you do, goes in a jar. During the holidays or if there is a show coming up, I do splurge a little bit but not beyond my means.

I'm not buying too much this year as I have a number of historical miniature kits I'm going to try to get painted this year.

I use most of my allowance to fund the Military Budget. I did sell all but 2 items in my scooter collection in the past several years. I'm keeping my 998-S FE below and a 749-S.

Toy Soliders and the 2 DUCs = Lots of Fun for a 59 year old.

I'm not buying much this year. I was going to cut my toy soldier budget by 50% but, I think it will be more like a cut of 75%! I'm mainly going to stick with the latest releases of the Britains new matt Zulu range and some odds and ends. I'll be watching eBay for anything interesting that may come up too. It's time to enjoy what I already have! :)
