Anybody have the inside scoop on what's going over there? It looks like it's down for the third time in more than a month and when it comes back it's only for a day or so.

I just tryed to register a day ago, and I thought I did something wrong. I don't know if I was accepted or not. Every time I go there, its down.

Just went there and this is the message

Sorry, the board is unavailable at the moment while we are testing some functionality due to malicious users.

Sounds like they were crashed and have been trying to piece the site back together, aka Hobby Bunker.......Michael

I spoke with Marcus Thosen (MarcT on Toy Soldier Chat) last week. His son Eric is the owner of the Toy Soldier Chat forum. I am told that several months ago, someone hacked into the Toy Soldier Chat hoping to steal the personal information of forum members. This sounded silly to me since the information is basically the forum ID, forum password, e-mail address, and maybe the month and day of a member's birthday. In the process, he or she destroyed Toy Soldier Chat, making it so unuseable that Eric has to basically start over again and get a new forum program. However, the cost of a new program is not the reason for the delay. Eric has been worried he or his company would be liable for any damages that might arise if a future hacker successfully gets personal information.:(

Lets invite Marc over to this forum if Eric decides not to continue with ToySoldierChat.com.

Sounds like a reasonable concern. I'm not a privacy attorney but I believe there are some penalties associated with the loss and recovery of personal information, as well as notifications to persons whose personal information has been lost.

These guys have been down for a long time. Are they DOA? Also what happened with the Canadian Toy Soldier site? It looks like all the discussion threads were deleted.

Ah-ha. I answered my own question. You now have to log yourself in to see the CTS threads. Sorry for being so dense.
