Is Figarti planning to release a station to go along with the Reichsbahn line? If not, can anyone recommend a station scenic? I haven't been involved in model railroads since I was a kid playing with my dad's Lionel sets, so I wouldn't know what scale/guage (if any) might go with a 1:30, European WWII era train.

Thanks in advance,

Mark

Hi Mark,

Check this site. I'm into large scale trains. Marklin 1 Scale comes closest to 1/30 scale.

I saw the Figarti locomotive and tender last week at the Hackensack show. It is big! Someone eventually bought it. Incredible looking as do the rails and the rail bed. Can't wait to get the Karl Morser.

I run o scale, but was looking at some Euro styled engines and cars in Marklin 1 Scale to convert for a small WW2 layout. Mikes Train House advertises their large scale line as being 1/32. What do you think? Michael

That is a close as you are going to get. Some of the old LGB buildings are bigger and the scale can vary. Most of the train items are kits so you can modify them a bit. There are some train guys that like to scratch builld that stuff, but it can get pricey.

I bought all the train related Figarti trains items and I believe it is a better alternative than weathering my LGB or Marklin trains.

Mark mate,
If you remember the Figarti Train Dio in Chicago or photos there of, you will remember a Footbridge, Signal Bridge, Station House and Switch Tower. These are all made in kit form by Piko, a German Company and are G scale.
I purchased these after Chicago from Black Forest Hobby Supply in Chicago www.blackforesthobby.com and I am currently assembling them for a Train dio pending the receipt of Figarti Train sets from the Grey Goose himself.
Hope this helps. Cheers Howard:)

Howard, Thanks for information on train station buildings.I purchased my train at the Chicago Show and was looking for the buildings..thanks Ron

As stated, you will find all of those kits are manufactured by a company called Piko from Germany. I've been using them for several years and they're great. Pre-weather and detailed. All you need to do is put them together. They are even made for outdoor garden use. There are two other German companies that produce this scale. Pola and Faller. They are pretty pricey though. But between the 3 companies you can come up with some great dio's. I believe Faller has a real elaborate Train station. Check them out.

I've dealt with BlackForest hobbies. A great place for these types of products.

Actually, the problem with PIKO is they have to be assembled/glued.. and there are tons of parts! Not worth the hassle.. What FIGARTI "should do",, is make a station "FRONTAL" only,, This would cut down price.. IN fact, that is what should be done more often by all manufactures..

How can that be?? That station is 1/25 scale..

I believe the diorama builder that Figarti used was the same one that K&C used for the DDay loading dock at the Westcoaster and he modified the G-scale buldings to make it work. Much easier than scratch built.

I guess some "G SCALE" items can be modified.. cut down the height a little bit...

All of you are correct about the original source of the 'Garden Scale' building kits. The problem for these manufacturers is that the same track is used for several different scales.
1/32, 1/25, 1/24. 1/22.5. 1/18 and so on.

Most of these buildings have been patterned to use with the 1/22.5 locomotives and cars and they often represent 'Meter Gauge' railroads. This means a track width or gauge that is less than the normal standard gauge of 4' 8 1/2" from inside rail to inside rail. This is why the scale was increased up to 1/22.5.

The long and short of it is that if you want to use these buildings, some modifications should probably be made to the doors and window heights from the baseboard to the sill. I felt that the use of these kits with the new Figarti locomotve and cars made the equipment appear too small.

At the end of the day they are a quick fix and can be used as is if you are careful in figure and equipment placement.

Sorry, I missed your respones. Mike Train House is top notch. They do many scales; I have not bought any of there 1/32 scale buildings but if the quality is anything like there standard guage stuff you'll be happy.
