Do you think ANdy will add Rudi Liftenstein to the LAH series. SHe could be directing a Nazi film crew etc

I believe you mean Leni Riefenstahl. She was a very interesting person to say the least. I remember seeing her film when I was a teenager and being impressed by it. It also ruined her career, a movie that she had to apologize for the rest of her life. An influential film nonetheless.

She only died a couple of years ago, she was a pioneer of a lot of the film propaganda techniques, which we are still saddled with today. Triumph of the will , is well worth a look, to see how she used the Olympics for the glorification of Hitler's jackboot regime. Some of the shots of the athletes are some of the most elegant sport images I've seen. Great talent , shame about the studio head! She was a looker though, so no objection to a figure;)

There was an article on BBC about the Olympic Torch. I didn't relaize but the first time the torch was used was in the 1936 games. It was a Nazi idea and there were all these propaganda pictures of Aryna types in running kit emblazoned with swatstikas carrying the torch through Germany.
Regards

Olympia is another of her classics and it may have come from her.

Here are some images off the BBC.

A few years back someone did a special on Leni and had several interviews with her about film making and Triumph of the Will. Her answers to some of the more pointed questions were shall we say interesting if not evasive. Not sure if she regretted making it because they lost and it pretty muched ruined what could have been a promising career or she was truly ashamed of what it had been used to glorify?

I remember seeing that and with Leni you could never be sure of what you were getting.

Must confess to never having seen this film.

It is a classic true, but rightfully so her film career was severly tarnished and she should have had to apologize repeatedly for her participation. It's hard to defend the indefensible.
