Hi All,

The other week my wife and myself meet a retired couple who came to purchase some items from us and we got to chatting about things he was trying to part with.

This afternoon Alex and his wife Maggie came over with some items to show us and to see how old they are and do they have any value.

Any help would be great, the Japanese figures are plastic with no marking and around 60mm.

The band members and tommy's have Great Britain on there base's and the G.I's have no markings at all.

Hi. I can't help with the plastics - as I don't collect them at all. Maybe try with this pic in the Plastics section.

The three Khaki clad soldiers are by Crescent Toys - and are pre-war (1932 - 1939). [broken rifle on one figure]

The Guards Bandsmen are also from Crescent ( stepping off on the right foot gives them away), though these are post-war. [ broken flute and one trombone)

The GI's you show are mostly by Cherilea - though the GI with arm in a sling is by Timpo ( note the oval base). [Note: These figures were issued around the mid 1950's - as both British and US troops]. Parts are also missing from some figures.

All of the soldiers are not in the best condition - and some have broken parts - which will affect value. I also assume that there are no boxes for them. As such, their value will not be great.

If I were buying any of these relatively common figures in this poor condition at a swap-meet - I would probably not expect to spend more than a pound or two for intact examples - and for broken figures in need of repair and a repaint - maybe not even that much.

However, there are always people around who wish to fill out spaces in their collections who might be interested in any of these old hollowcast figures -and may be willing to pay a little bit extra for some of these.

Hope that helps with identities a bit, at least. jb
