I was wondering if anybody has used other riders with TSSD horses. I have a bunch of Napoleonic Timpo riders that I was originally going to use on CTS horses but they don't fit terribly well. Does anybody know if Timpo riders would fit on TSSD horses? I know TSSD horses do not necessarily fit with the Napoleonic period but I may be a little lenient because their are very few sizeable Napoleonic horses, at least that I know of, out there. Also, if anyone has any other suggestions for suitable horses for Napoleonic Timpo, I am all ears. Thanks!

hi

I use either Deetail horses or if you can still find them Italeri French Hussar and Scots Greys horses (I add blanket roll to cover pistols holders on Scots Grey horse)and Helmet Soldiers spare parts have 6 x different horses that I have used.

Hope this helps
regards
Dave

I,ll second Dave on the Italeri horses as good mounts for Napoleonics! I have used The TSSD horses for Napoleonics but the saddles need to be reworked, I used a bunch of TSSD mounts with the French cavalry figures from All the Kings Men which already have saddles molded onto the figures so the saddles had to be cut off first to mount the figures onto these horses but the TSSD horses are some of the best horses available in plastic so it was worth the effort.
I also did the same with the Italeri hoses also, these are the best horses I could find in plastic in my opinion.
I used a bunch TSSD horses right out of the bag on some Russian Cossacks that I made also. I was going to rework the saddles on those TSSD mounts for the Cossacks also but the amount of figures I was working on was going to be a lot of work so I gave up after just one when I saw how much work it was going to be.

Thanks Fish
I thought I had seen your work with TSSD horses before!
I do have a couple italeri horses but not enough to outfit a bulk buy of French and Prussian Timpo riders (somewhere in the neighborhood of 60). I may just take the plunge and buy some TSSD horses for them!
We'll see if I have the patience to cut em down and make them Napoleonic.
Again, very impressive conversions and stuff. I have also been keeping my eyes on those ATKM cuirassiers but I am trying this new thing called self restraint haha

Hi Fish - great to see your work on here again - the French heavy cavalry are excellent pieces of conversion work - Its brightened up a very gloomy, overcast and rainy day in my part of the woods.

Looking forward to seeing more of your conversions

Best Regards
Dave

The Timpo riders sit fine on these. They are the ones sold currently in the bag with the Italeri recasts. It's the French bag of guys. $20 or so for a bag with 4 horses and riders and a few infantry.
I'm going to take the heads off of the riders and use the heads for Austrian artillery and replace the heads with Timpo grenadiers to make mounted grenadiers or gendarmes out of the riders.

Oh wow those fit quite nicely! And good idea about the grenadiers. I was looking at those same guys the other day and trying to think what I could possibly use them for but with a little tweaking, they could def be grenadiers or gendarmes. Noted. haha
