I am no expert in this era of Britains but ithink it may be because of the way they were packaged. They were tied down toq a piece of backing cardboard and was then placed in the box. Do a search to see mib sets and see if the are tied down
Oh, no idea. I was just creating a hypothesis but you probably just destroyed my hypothesis. So i have nothing. Sorry.
I agree, i have quite a few old Britains sets, they were often tied to the cardboard, either using the type of tag below or by string. Passed through the holes and then twisted behind the cardboard to hold the figure to the board. I too have some with the holes drilled in them
those holes seem very precise and identical in location...
I wonder if they are designed to plug into a base with prongs protruding upwards to stabilize the figures base from falling over...
That's what I thought, Mike-that someone drilled them to attach those soldiers to a base. But I didn't know that Britain drilled those holes, if that's the case. That's why I'm curious to see the packaging, if possible.
