Hello everyone,

Here are the 2 new figure sets. We've changed the flesh tone a bit, and we are also marking shadows and lights more dramatically, so we can match the figures from the other WWII brands.

Check the pictures and let me know what you think.

Ana :)

Excellent A+ I think it looks much better but it already looked good before.

Yes yes and yes:D:D:D Thank you:)
Russian figures are ace , especially like the cammo figures in the black-green-ameba pattern, very nice to see some russians in WWII cammo:cool:

The german figures are good as well, the poses remind me of the airfix/matchbox 1/32 germans so I'm naturally programmed by some sort of childhood imprinting towards them :D:D:D

Those sets look super! I like the new direction and the posing looks great!!!

Great work guys,

I can't wait to get my hands on both sets. When are they coming out? I can't believe I'm actually going to be buying my first set of Russian soldiers.

Hola Ana,

I like very much the Rusians...the Germans are good too....muchas gracias, son excelentes sets.

Rod.

The new flesh tone and highlighting is very good.

Hope HB can repaint its previous releases, like winter ski troops and winter food line.

Thank you all, guys! :)

Ana

PS: Nasir, all of our sets will be painted in this style from now on.

Hi Ana,

thats good news about the new repaint style, its about time.

how much for repaint of the older figures, or gold edition tank crew?

Excellant work Ana,very nice indeed.:)

Rob:)

Ana,

First of all thank you for producing Soviets. :)

Now here is my 2 cents:

New paint style

I like it

Soviet Set

The "Amoeba" camouflage pattern is interesting. The other two guys appear to be wearing a pull over style top. I wish I new more about Soviet uniforms.

I'm trying to identify the weapons but the angle makes it a little challenging. From left to right I came up with:
  • MP40 (captured)
  • Mosin Nagant Model 1938/1944 Carbine (can't see if it has the folding bayonet)
  • PPSh 41 submachinegun (with stick magazine)
  • Mosin Nagant Model 1891/30 with scope

German Set

I think you did a very good job on the "Splinter 31" camouflage.

The Zeltbahns are a nice touch. Overall I like the poses.

Conclusion

When I compare these to your first releases I see a lot of positive progress. In the past I prefered your winter pieces. I see this gap narrowing with this release.

The panzergrenadiers, which look very nice indeed, look Heer rather than SS and should go nicely with the K & C Normandy Heer soldiers due next month.

Ana,
One word for both sets; spectacular............incredibly well done, they are beautiful figures. The Germans are first rate, the Russians are nice as well. Interesting to see how well they sell since quite a few people have been asking for Eastern Front items on the forum........

Regards,
George

It's a good attempt but the brown spots need to be a lot darker and the green splotches should have a jagged rather than rounded appearance (I realize at this scale it's impossible to expect perfection). K&C did a little better job on the splinter on their new Wehrmacht figures.

However, I agree that the Zeltbahns these guys are wearing is a great touch and something sorely missing from the camo "war"drobe of K&C's new figures. The Zeltbahn was by far the most common camo item used by the German army. Each guy would carry one of these triangular ponchos and a squad could combine three or more of them to make a tent, plus they could be worn as a camo poncho: http://www.zeltbahn.net/tent.htm. For that reason people who are picking up K&C's new Wehrmacht line should definitely consider these guys too.

I like the poses of these guys, especially the guy throwing a grenade and the guy kneeling and firing his rifle, except his kar-98 rifle is underscaled (too thin and too short). On the other hand, K&C's rifles are usually too large and chunky, so it is half of one, three dozen of another.

Russian scouts are very nicely done, and a fresh subject to boot.

The russians are great. excellent sculpt and tone.

the germans are quite good. obviously these are older sculpts, the zeltbahn is an ambitious attempt, an quite well executed.

Coming from a geman collector, i'll lean more to the Russkis this time.

Hi CS,

There really isn't a lot of difference between the colors on the HB and K&C figures. I have never been a fan of the green "rain drop" streaks at this scale as it tends to overpower the print. For Splinter 31 I am looking for larger brown polygons with smaller green polygons embedded in the brown sections.

Got my hands on the russians:D The big wow for me with them was the the black-green-ameba pattern cammo. There are quite a few cammo patterns used by the russians, but this one looks stunning on the figures, really eye catching. Like the poses on the two other figures, but stand out was the cammo:cool::cool::cool: More please:D

sure sound like a great purchase there. i am still contemplating getting them but am afraid if i started i will start pressing Ana for more russkis.

as it is, i am already pestering her for more germans, in fact, i'm thinking the term 'be careful of what you wish for' may ring true for me.
