Those seas look threatening Rob. Perfect backdrop. Scene really comes up well. Robin.

That is really well done.

Does the forward crewman have an amputation?

Excellent picture but not to be a rivet counter or kill joy...^&grin but those blokes on deck (except for the gunner appearing to secure the gun and the blokes in the conning tower) wouldn't be standing around with the sea being that rough!

I feel seasick just looking at the photo Rob ! Very well done !

Das Boot Ist Sehr Gut Rob!
Thanks much fellas, appreciate the nice feedback.

Hi Brad, it looks like he does but it's just the angle of the photograph. His arm/hand is set back.

Okay guys. Good point. I really wanted a rough sea image to capture the mood but I suppose the crew might night be standing around in such rough waters. Thanks for the feedback. This one is for you:

Tom

Tom nailed that pretty accurately.

Having spent some time in the Boats, with that weather and sea conditions, we would have submerged and enjoyed some calmer conditions a few hundred feet down.
The crew in the tower would be getting a beating with the roll and yaw of the boat as the waves deal blow after blow.

Still the rough water does make a better picture, Rob. At least to you and me.

Still the second shot is also a winner, with the red sky.
"Red sky in the morning, sailors take warning. Red sky at night, a sailors delight"

Did Brian (Collectors Showcase) sell out of those beauties …? :rolleyes2:

I like all your inspired photos of U96 Rob. The best piece TCS has ever done IMO. Set a new standard in WWII models. See the film Das Boot if you want to see some rough seas. The Kriegsmarine were tough mariners!

Hi Larry, never heard that one about a Red Sky, thanks for sharing. Not sure if TCS has any still available. I haven't checked their site since I picked up the Huey/Marines.

Thanks Katana. Could not agree with you more about their best piece. It was a pricey purchase (to have purchased all at once), but was never disappointed. I had hoped for a release of front and rear sections. In addition, a British raft with some commandos would have been a nice add-on. I think TCS missed the boat on both additions for those of us that delved into purchasing one of these subs. Oh, and I have the collector's edition of Das Boot. Great film indeed!
:salute::

When will this be available? Or did I miss it?
It is still available, but between the figures, U-Boat Hull sections (only a partial hull) and the water pieces, it is quite pricey at about $1,300. But the model looks darn cool 😎

Here are some retailers that have this in stock:
