I have a question for any U.S. Servicemen/Forum Members who may have some knowledge re the Gun Trucks. I have done a fair piece of reading on the subject but cannot find any explanation as to the yellow paint job on the bonnet of this particular K&C version. Does it symbolize a Unit? Does it represent say the lead vehicle in a convoy? My reading on the subject tells me that there was one Gun Truck to every 10 Cargo/Troop carrying vehicles in a Convoy and some of these convoys were up to 200 trucks in strength. Maybe it was just the crew's own paint scheme.

Any intel would be appreciated. Cheers Howard

noil-poli mate,

Many thanks for the heads up and reference. I had not thought about Air Recognition as the yellow always seem to me as a good aiming point for a VC with an RPG. My two versions of the K&C Gun Trucks should arrive in the mail tomorrow. I will now have the yellow nosed "War Wagon" at the head of my future road convoy. That's a sort of hint to Andy that I would be up for purchasing a few 6x6 Cargo Trucks to make up this convoy.^&grin^&grin

Cheers Howard

I think Howard will agree that the scene below of K&C Aussies in Nam, great that it is, is missing one item.....
Truck, Cargo,2.5 ton GS International No.1 Mk 111: Australian Army..

That's the truck that I leaned to drive, 4x4 driving over sand dunes towing a 25 Pounder Field Gun :)

That's me wearing the sunglasses on a training weekend.

Wayne & Obee mates,

As much as I would love to have a convoy of Mk.3s or Mk.5s in my Aussie NAM display, I would be satisfied at the moment to have the U.S. 6x6 Cargo Truck and then dream about getting the Aussie Mk.3 or Mk.5. I ran across the attached photo recently which shows 3 of these U.S. vehicles with Aussie marking outside the Saigon HQ. Note the red Kangaroos on the bumper bars and the red & yellow shield on the driver's door.
