As we approach the centenary of Britain declaring War on Germany 100 years ago on Monday we now start to see a flood of tv dramas and docu's coming to us over the next four years. The next week alone sees several.
The World War. Wednesday 9.00pm BBC2:
Historian David Olusoga's series shows that the conflict was far from a ' white mans War'.
Great War Diaries. Saturday 6.10pm BBC 2:
An international drama collaboration based on journals and letters recounting the personal tragedy ,happiness, love and grief of War.
Brothers in arms. Sunday 10.15 ITV:
This one off film uses testimony from veterans to relive the heroism of friends who joined up, fought and died together.
Our World War . Thursday BBC3 9.00PM.:
This ' graphically powerful' drama three part series is a highlight as it features ' immersive' effects to hammer home the realism of the horrors of this modern war in a Saving Private Ryan type way. This opening episode is centered on the Railway bridge at Mons in Belgium as the Royal Fusilliers fight to hold off the German army.
Just four tv shows (one ITV show)in what will be the biggest BBC series of progs in it's History.
