Ulzana's Raid 1972 (1 Viewer)

Hi All,

Just saw this very good Western movie again starring one of my fave actors Burt Lancaster. A rather brutal film with some gory scenes, it shows some empathy for Apache culture.

An excellent western. Very realistic in it's depiction of the brutality of the frontier and the Apache raiders. It is a film that is very hard to find in an uncut version. Usually, the whole sequence where the cavalry sergeant (played by Richard Jaeckel) and another trooper are sent off to track down the wounded Apache, is cut. There is a whole story where they hunt down the Apache and the trooper is killed in the process. The cut version just shows the sergeant and trooper leave and the sergeant then returns alone and reports. I haven't seen the uncut version in years. -- Al

Al,

The cut version was what I saw. Thanks for mentally filling in the blank there.
