It will be interesting to see how the protest movement impacts/disrupts TS companies stationed in HK. The bigger concern being a bejing crackdown similar to Tiananmen square....

I thought that most TS companies have their factories in China not HK. HK labor cost is much higher than in China.
I don't think there will be much disruption to the TS industry.

Since you posted this in K&C area I am guessing you mean K&C.

I doubt it will have any impact on shipments as K&C warehouse is not in the area where the protests are. It may be impacting on their shop as the images show the protesters are in the main roads outside. Some shops and banks etc on ground level in that area have been closed.

Should be no impact on Jenkins either as he is not based near there.

A Tiananmen situation in HK is not so easy as it was in Beijing in 1989. Firstly a lot of the troops in Tiananmen were shipped in from outside areas to do what they did. Whilst there are Chinese Army units in HK I would think it most unlikely they would bring them onto the street as only likely to inflame the protestors even more. I have no idea of the PLA training but doubt they could handle the situation better than the Police. If they do go onto the streets it could be a serious escalation that might end badly.

The HK Police are all locally born and no doubt many will know relatives, friends and neighbours who might be protesting. The HK Police would be one of the most highly trained and well equipped riot police in the world. Even though the Police number 25,000 plus in a small area they simply don't have the manpower to cope with such large numbers of, mainly peaceful, protesters in varied locations. Seems the protesters are intelligent protesters rather than your out of control riot type protesters.

Another problem for the authorities is that everything that happens can be well documented by the press and anybody with a mobile phone.

An interesting event of significant importance to both sides.
