I ran across this on Facebook today. Not what I expected!

Here's a Normandy Beach landing photo they don't show you in textbooks. Brave women of the Red Cross arriving in 1944 to help the injured troops

Pete,

I'm no expert, nor am the kind who likes to raise unimportant issues, but I'm having some trouble to place this picture as taken in Normandy due to the mountains in the background. I've been there a couple of times and don't recollect a mountain like that all the way from Utah to Sword... Looks more like Italy to me, but I may be completly wrong.

It looks a little like the area of Normandy around Mont Saint Michel. If you look North from that beach area there is some high ground going back in the direction of Cherbourg, but I don't have any good photos of it. Still cool to see the Red Cross Nurses coming ashore.

Carlos,
You are right on the Money......NO WAY such high mountain ridges on the Atlantic coast of FRANCE around Normandy.......{sm4}{sm4}{sm4}{sm4}{sm4}

Mont St. Michel is quite a bit aways from the Normandy landing beaches.

I know Brad I was just there. I was merely saying that it could have been taken there because there are no major hills like that near the landing beaches. Unless you go to the north of the Normandy Bridge over the Seine which has some high ground as well. Its an interesting puzzle.
