Hey guys, bought these flats for a song on evil bay, Identified only as Russian imperial guard, seller knew nothing about them. Could not find any info thru google, did the russians wear bearskin caps?? I thought maybe Crimean era? anybody know??

They might represent Nicholas I's Company of Palace Grenadiers, which he raised in 1827. That's the only Russian unit that ever wore bearskin caps; their original caps were captured French grenadier caps. Their coats were similar to those worn by the Prussian Schlossgarde.

The unit was raised after the Decembrist revolts, in which some soldiers of the existing Guard regiments had participated. Nicholas selected both officers and men from among long-serving and reliable NCOs in other units of the army.

It is a nice set of figures, whatever they may represent, well done!

Thanks Brad, yes they really are sharp looking and I just wondered where they fit or if they were "artistic License":)

I'll check my uniform resources tohing when I get home, but I'd say they are late 19th century. Definielty look like the Guards...
