Does anyone have any listings of what was made in this range of figures?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Dave

I'll check in O'Brien. I have some Union Jacks, as well as Paxton Sherriff's book on making toy soldiers.

There were recently some sets sold on eBay, 6 to 8 figures in each, if I recall. I was watching them, but budget constraints prevented me from bidding. They all went for around $30 apiece, if I remember correctly.

Prost!

Never have seen a list. Always thought them to be excellent quality. I have about 5-6 foot sets and 5 mounted figures. The pipers, fifers, and drummers are particularly well done. -- Al

A little bump to this thread...

Over the weekend, there were three eBay auctions for Paxton Sherriff toy soldiers. I don't know if they were in the Union Jacks series or Guards and Garrisons, but I spotted them right away, and placed bids on each. The one I really wanted, I didn't get, and that's this mounted figure of a trooper from the 1st Troop of the Horse Grenadier Guards, circa 1758:

I had never seen any of his mounted figures before, and the seller was asking a price that indicated that he might not have had an idea of what he had--$18.95. To be fair, he did not know the maker of this or the other figures. The other figures were all foot figures, 6 grenadier and 4 musicians (2 fifers, 2 drummers) of other regiments. I won those, so, while I'm disappointed to have lost the horse grenadier, it's still nice to be able to add to my small collection of Paxton Sherriff toy soldiers. As soon as they arrive, I'll take pictures and add them to this thread.

Prost!

Most interested to see this thread. Cannot state when, it was long ago, but one of the first sets of "toy soldiers" I bought as an adult was from the Paxton-Sheriff "Union Jacks" range. I got the set of an officer and 5 grenadiers of the 26th regiment of foot , The Cameronians. The grenadiers form a firing line. The cost was the princely sum of £18.50. They were from Series 5, which consisted of 9 different regiments that had fought at either Sheriffmuir or Preston in the 1715 Jacobite rebellion.

The Union Jacks ranges, as described in the Paxton-Sheriff leaflet I have, are of an officer and 5 grenadiers of British regiments, plus some drummers and fifers. The various series covered the following time periods:
Series 1. 1751, was all grenadiers with serial numbers beginning TSG1.
Series 1/A 1751 was fifers and drummers,2 of each in a set ,all had serial numbers beginning TSG/A.
Series 2. 1775 grenadiers. Serial numbers begin TSG2.
Series 3. 1775 Highlander grenadiers. Serial numbers begin TSG3.
Series 4. 1793/94 grenadiers in Martinique and St. Domingo. Serial numbers begin TSG4.
Series 5. 1715 grenadiers from the battles of Sheriffmuir and Preston figures.

I wish that my finances had been better many years ago, and my interest in military miniatures stronger, as I would have bought more.

Must try to take a photograph and post up the set I have.

Interesting that there is a set on E-Bay right now. It is a set of drummers and fifers of the 48th Ft. (Northhamptonshire) from 1751. First set for sale that I have seen in ages. -- Al

Here is what looks like Series 1 ...the 1751 Grenadiers. They look very similar in style to a job lot I picked up from a manufacturer/ painter who was also based in South Wales. I have to say I don’t like these sculpts at all ..not a patch on those ECW figures on another thread. Apologies for the small pic lifted from the bay
