Well, Britains is the maker. That's a Scots Guards piper, unless I'm mistaken.

Prost!

It's by Britains Brad, but the Scots Guards Piper would be wearing a feather bonnet. This figure is wearing a glengarry.

IF the doublet (coat) is dark green - Then he could be a Royal Scots piper - who also wore Royal Stuart tartan - with the headgear of this figure. Not sure about the red hackle though. Could be an old repaint job, with errors???? jb

I went off a black-and-white photo in O'Brien, 1st edition, which captions the same casting with a Glengarry cap, and what looks like the same pattern to his plaid. There are other photos of the same casting, in different colors, but again, all black-and-white photos. I can check against Opie's and Joplin's books, for color references.

I'd say Scots Guard, as that what it looks like in Richard O'Brien's book (no relation)

The sporran also has the 2 black tails, a red tartan, and I think a blue coat.

I think JB is correct when he says it's a Royal Scots piper set 212. When this set was revived in 1948 the set was reduced to five pieces which included the piper. It should have black cock feathers in the glengarry but it looks like some time in its life it has been over painted in red.:salute::

Regards John
