I am new to this. I have 6 metal soldiers 2 1/2" in marching step. Uniforms are Grey with White cross chest bands. They are wearing Black caps with small visor and Black vertical plume. These are from the 1940s. Any info as to what they represent would be great, I can send pix. thanks nbiz62

I believe those would be cadets of West Point.

You likely have set 299

West Point Cadets, summer dress, at the slope
Black shakos, grey tunics, white pants without stripes, white gloves and crossbelts. No officer. Made between 1946-66. Seven pieces in 1960

From Wallis, Joe. Regiments of All Nations: Britains Ltd. Lead Soldiers 1946-1966.

You probably have West Point Cadets in Winter Dress shown below on the right. Grey tunics and trousers with white cross belts. They were part of a 24 piece set (later 21 pieces) of US Infantry, Marines and West Point Cadets in Winter Dress (set 232). The winter cadets were also issued as 8 cadets with 8 Marines (set 9381) so it appears you only have part of a larger set issued by Britains between 1946-66.

It looks like they don't have the swinging arm either. I would say these a Brtains B grade figures. Britains made some figures without moving arms and the painting on them was not as detailed as the regular figures. These were marketed so the lower income families could buy them as well.

Welcome to the Forum, nbiz62, and thanks for the puzzle!

You mentioned having some trouble with posting pics, and I remembered a thread on the subject in the How To forum, so I've retrieved the link for you, in case you'd like to see it:

I think I can say that I speak for all of us when I say again, welcome, and look forward to seeing more of your collection!

Prost!

It looks like someone repainted these since even the bases are grey (rather than green) and the straps on the back are grey as well. Seems like a rather rushed touch-up job.
I have no idea on value but since there is no box and the painting is not the best I would not imagine a high value.

thanks for all your help. I guess I grew up in one of those "lower income" families in the 1940s. I do know that these were not repainted...I kept them just as I got them way back then. I also have what looks like a Civil War cannon (not a Britain) with 2" wheels. I hope I've attached a pix of it. I am going to put them in my Garage Sale next week. If anyone here is interested give me a shout...thanks Neil
