Unusual? it looks like your everyday average Englishmen riding a perfectly normal Zebra............. :rolleyes2:

Now I would have to say what these Pakistani soldiers are doing is slightly unusual.

Nothing unusual here, looks like they're practitioners of Zen Yogi, just like Gomez Addams was....

I don't think that is a Zebra, missing a mane, some of the lines are uneven and dripping, and the tail is wrong, etc. Some Brit painted his horse with black stripes?

Possible, though it's documented well enough that Europeans mounted zebras. There were serious efforts to see if they could be domesticated, but I think the results were too poor for the effort, plus, horses worked better for the tasks required of them.

Hello JB,

I was thinking of your piece when I came across the zebra...:)

I must dig them out from my stash - and get on with the rest of them some time. I parked them when I went off on holiday - and seem to have rather forgotten them.

My Zebra is really a repaired and repainted Wend-Al ( aluminium) Zoo figure - and the body of the Officer to lead his Askari Band - is just made up from bits and pieces I bought at Dorset Soldiers a while ago. My idea came from the couple of Beau-Geste sets that Scott (Britfarmer) has already referred to.

Your pic certainly does look like a painted horse - or mule. jb
